Today, I wanted to share this recipe for homemade taco seasoning. It had been a while since I made some, but I opted to make a small batch the other day when I was preparing for our almost weekly Mexican-themed meal {Crockpot Mexican Chicken is one of our favorites} and realized I was out of taco seasoning packets. I happened to have enough of all the seasonings I needed, so it worked out great on the fly.
You will need: chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, red pepper flakes, oregano, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper.
This recipe isn’t even a true recipe. You’ll just mix up all the ingredients in a small bowl and mix well. Make sure to store in an air-tight container.
Note: Use approx. 2 Tbsp. taco seasoning mix per pound of ground beef. Or for other recipes, just substitute 2 Tbsp. for whenever a packet is listed.
I wish I had a detailed cost breakdown for you, but since we tend to have these seasonings in our spice rack for other dishes, it’s cheap for us! I also usually double this recipe since we go through so much taco seasoning in our house, but feel free to make as little or as much as you’d like depending on your needs.
ENJOY!
