Brady at 6 Months

April 29, 2013 by Sarah

Happy 6 months, Brady Wayne!

Here is what you are up to these days (a couple weeks late of course).

* You are down to 4 bottles a day.  You will drink 8 ozs. for the first 3 feedings and have decreased to anywhere from 4-6 ozs. for your final bottle of the night.  My milk supply is much better although we sometimes have to supplement with a little formula.

* You are doing really well with your solids!  You are eating rice cereal and oatmeal, yellow veggies (carrots, sweet potatoes, and squash), and green veggies (green beans and sweet peas) at this point, but fruits will be added to the menu this weekend.  (I found Babywise 2 to be so helpful with introducing solids so we’re using that approach with you as well!)

* You are sleeping about 11-12 hours at night which has been wonderful! Your last bottle is at 7:30 and then you are in bed until the morning. You are so cute when you wake up in the mornings.  Lately, you play and talk quietly for sometimes up to a half hour if I let you!

* You are still taking 3 naps each day.  You are awake for about 90 mins in the morning before your first nap, but you are awake about 2 hours in between your other naps.  Your third nap is usually a catnap just to get you through until bedtime.

* You are still a major tummy sleeper and it is so funny to see where you end up in your crib after I put you down.  You may start out on your back in the middle of the crib, but typically end up on your belly in the corner before too long!

* You are wearing size 3 diapers and weighed in at 17 lbs. 13 ozs. last week at your ENT appointment.  Big boy!

* You are wearing 6-9 months clothes, although 9-12 months rompers fit you even better!  You are a long fella!  It’s been fun to see those cute legs of yours with this warmer weather!

 * You don’t really have official tummy time anymore because you just love to go back and forth from front to back when you are on the floor!  You don’t mind your back, but LOVE being on your belly!  You will kick like crazy, fly like superman, and are pushing up your upper body higher and higher.

* You still enjoy the Bumbo seat but it doesn’t take you long before you are arching your back like you want to get out of it.  You would rather sit up on your own!  You still need some assistance, but are getting better and better.  You lean forward all the time in your highchair so you get lots of practice building those muscles!  If I don’t watch you closely when you are sitting up, you sometimes end up on your belly!

* You are loving the Exercauser.  You bite on the toys like crazy and will jump in it too!  We went ahead and put your lambseat and playmat in storage!
* You still drool a ton and have your fingers in your mouth constantly!  For your sake, I really wish a tooth would pop through!

* You are also getting pretty good at grabbing at things in front of you and passing them from hand to hand.  I love to watch you deliberately try and grab the bottle if I’m not getting it to you fast enough!

* You are such a happy baby!  You love to be tickled and don’t seem to mind my kisses one single bit!  You watch your sister like a hawk and giggle at her quite often when she isn’t even aware.  People always tell me how easy going and “chill” you are!  I hope it continues!

* You are still babbling, but I don’t think you are quite as talkative as your sister was at your age.  I probably need to pay a little more attention, but it can be very distracting around here!  🙂

You are getting so big, Brady Wayne!  We don’t have your official visit for another couple of weeks, but I know you must be above average in height and weight!  You truly are a joy and delight to our family.  You are such a handsome little guy and I can’t wait to see how your relationship with your sister develops in time!  I hope you will be great friends and playmates!  I love you more than I ever imagined, Brady Wayne!

I'm actually cleaning/dusting the ceiling fan in our guest room. I saw this tip years ago and I've been doing it ever since, although probably not as often as I should! 🤪
.
Snag an old pillowcase and drag it off each blade so the dust stays inside of it. Then, wash it in your next laundry load for easy clean up!

This is where the meal magic happens in our house. This is where the meal magic happens in our house. Don't ever let anyone convince you that you have to have a large (and often expensive) kitchen in order to feed your family.
.
Is there anything wrong with a large and expensive kitchen? Nope!
.
Can they be helpful? Absolutely!
.
This house was built in the 1940s and likely housed a family our size, or maybe larger. It's amazing to think how our concept of wants and needs have changed since then.
.
Maybe someday we'll have a larger kitchen, but for now, I'm thankful that this small kitchen allows me to have everything at my fingertips quickly! 😁
"The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness "The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness we feel is found not in us but outside of us. The solutions to our problems and pain aren't found in self-love, but in God's love.

The God who created us, who created the universe, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever, is the one who provides us with the purpose and satisfaction we're seeking. While self love depletes, God's love for us doesn't. He showed us his love by sending Jesus to die for our sins so that we could be forgiven and live forever with him. Self-love is superficial and temporary. God's love is profound and eternal."

"The first myth that you are enough. My counter was this: you're not you'll never be enough, and that's okay, because God is."
