Frugal Fashion Friday: New Shirt & Gift Ideas for Her

December 6, 2013 by Sarah

Today’s outfit isn’t anything fancy {but then again, are any of mine?}, but I wanted to go ahead and show you since I’m totally in love with the shirt and earrings.
I have needed some basic shirts and when I saw Shay wearing them and raving about them over at Mix and Match Family, I knew I had to keep my eye out for a good sale so I could snag one up for myself.  Well, that day came at the end of November and I’ve been so pleased with my purchase.
It runs true to size, but I went ahead and ordered it in the tall because I wanted to make sure it was long enough.  The sleeves are a little long, but I actually really like that about it.  It was exactly what I was hoping and I’m glad I ordered the one in grey too! πŸ™‚
I went for my warm yellow sweater scarf.  I’ve gotten so much use out of my 2 sweater scarves {I have this one in yellow and another in orange which you’ve seen here before} and love that they are so bright in the middle of winter.
I couldn’t get a good closeup of my earrings, but I am loving them as well.  I spotted them in one of the locked cases at Target with an orange clearance sticker on them, so I was immediately intrigued.  When I saw they were priced at $3.58, I immediately dropped them in my shopping cart.  I’ve worn them a ton already and love that they add a little bling to basic jeans and tshirt.
Here’s the breakdown on the outfit:
*********************
Tshirt:  Gap {On Sale $16.77}
White tank:  Old Navy
Scarf: Old Navy
Earrings: Target {On clearance in store for $3.58}
Jeans {not seen}:  Ann Taylor Loft
Shoes {not seen}: Sperry’s
*********************
Now that we’ve finished that, I thought it would be fun to highlight some cute and affordable clothing gift ideas for some of the women in your life {some of these will be items I’ve already mentioned here…ahem, in this post even}.  And there’s nothing wrong with picking up something for yourself – call it an early Christmas gift!  As you well know, I’m no fashion expert, but these are some of the items I’ve fallen in love with and/or have gotten compliments on this fall.
Since some of the sales that were running when I purchased the items may have expired, they might not be as affordable as I would typically like, but I still wanted to include them and perhaps some of the sales will return with the Christmas shopping season upon us.
1. Gap supersoft striped wide-neck T
Gap has been going a little crazy lately, so keep your eye out for some sales. I managed to snag mine for $16.77 after an online sale and then a 40% off coupon code.
2. Target Medium Rhinestone Clutchless Hoop Earrings

You could certainly get these online if you wish, but I’d check your local store first for these bad boys.  For some reason, they had them locked up in one of the cases at the jewelry counter rather than in with the other clearance jewelry.  It was worth it for $3.58!
3.  Chevron Light Knit Infinity Scarves
I recently ordered one and love it.  It’s light so don’t expect a ton of warmth with this one, but it’ll be perfect to wear year round.  I am loving how low maintenance infinity scarves are and so wish I had been snagging them up sooner.  And the chevron?  Such a fan right here!  This company is constantly running good sales, so keep your eyes out.  Just make sure you buy quickly once it reaches a good price because colors will sell out fast.
4. Old Navy Denim shirt

I had no idea what I was missing out on all these years.  This is not my exact shirt, but close enough.  I have worn this tons and feel like it is a wardrobe staple at this point.  It’s currently priced at $18 online right now and with Old Navy’s constant sales, I’m positive you could snag one of these for less than the price of a pizza at Papa John’s.

5.  Kayce Tall Boots with Back Studs

I am totally in love with the studs on the back of these boots.  About a year ago, those same studs probably would have been a reason to NOT buy them, but I’m so much more open minded these days!!  πŸ™‚  I haven’t bought these yet, but I plan to soon.  Target has good sales and oftentimes has good store coupons or Cartwheel deals, so I’m sure you can find them even cheaper than the $39.99 pricetag.
6.  Hue ‘Ultra’ Wide Waistband Leggings
Yes, I’d be wearing the leggings, infinity scarf and my denim shirt all in this one picture.  What can I say?  Back to the leggings….I purchased these on sale at $27 but this sale has ended.  If you can swing the $36, then I say go for it because these are awesome.  I plan to get grey at some point!

Wow!  I don’t know about you, but that post wore me out.

Happy Frugal Fashion Friday friends!

      If I see any, I will let you know or update this post. I heard about the coupon code through one of the blogs I follow and then lucked out that it was on sale anyway.
