Our Christmas Bucket List {On a Budget}

December 5, 2013 by Sarah

It’s been amazing to see how much more Savannah understands about Christmas festivities compared to last year.  Every morning when she wakes up and we come downstairs, she asks if Santa has come yet.  I honestly have no clue where she gets the Santa stuff from because we hardly mention him.  We aren’t opposed to him, but just haven’t made a big deal about him at this point.  But, it just shows how much she soaks in and it’s been so fun already!

So in an effort to not let Christmas arrive without doing anything intentional or meaningful as a family, I thought I might share our Christmas bucket list with you {and all of these are FREE or require very little money}.  I’ve seen a few others on other blogs that are much longer, but I get overwhelmed with long lists.  I wanted to keep it simple this year and leave room for adding things later if we desire.  I decided to break them down into categories because I’m weird like that.

Activities:
– Go to see The Bethlehem Walk
– Drive past homes on the Tacky Light Tour
– Go downtown to see the lights at the James Center
– Bake Christmas cookies
Spiritual:
– Read the Christmas story to Savannah & Brady {if he’ll sit still long enough}
– Attend our church’s Christmas Eve service

Honoring Our Children in Heaven:
– Leave flowers at Andrew’s grave
– Purchase an ornament for baby #4
Movies/TV shows:
– Watch as many Christmas specials as we can
– Rent at least 1 Christmas movie to watch as a family
Service:
– Bring Christmas cookies to a local fire station or hospital
– Have Savannah select 5 toys to donate

Even as I type, I am tempted to add to the list.  But as I mentioned yesterday, I’d rather savor each and every beautiful moment of this Christmas season rather than hurry through lots of events just to say we did it all.  If time allows and we want to do more, we will!

Do you have a bucket list for Christmas time?  If so, I’d love to hear some of them!

      Thanks, Christine! I'm a list maker by nature, so if I don't write out some goal or plan for Christmas, then I know it won't happen. I may not stick to the list, but at least it helps me plan some! 🙂
