Our Family’s Favorite Christmas Movies – Day 18

December 18, 2015 by Sarah

Welcome!

This is Day 18 of the 21 Days to a Stress Free & Debt Free Christmas.  I’m so excited that you are joining me for what I hope will be a really helpful series designed to walk with you step by step through the Christmas season in a way that ensures you keep your sanity and that you don’t overspend.

Today, we’re going to take a break from all the work surrounding Christmas and talk about our family’s favorite Christmas movies!

As we approach the conclusion of this stress free and debt free Christmas series, you may be needing a little stress reliever.  If you haven’t had one already, then I hope you will consider taking a night off from all the busyness and schedule a Christmas movie night.  I thought I’d break down our family’s favorites, so there are some options for everyone.

The Teacher’s Wife {Women}

I won’t bore you with the details of what I like about each one of these, but just know that most of these are extremely cheesy and unrealistic, but I can watch them over and over and over again.  If it means anything to you, two of these are straight from the Hallmark Channel.  I don’t care that these haven’t won any awards because they all make me smile.

The Holiday*

While You Were Sleeping*

Meet Me in St. Louis*

Debbie Macomber’s Mrs. Miracle*

The Christmas Card*

The Teacher {Men}

When I talked to The Teacher about why he chose these movies, he said it was because they were a good combination of comedy and heartwarming story-telling.  He threw in It’s a Wonderful Life because of the beautiful story alone.  I don’t think anyone can argue with that one.

Home Alone*

Jingle All the Way*

A Christmas Story*

It’s a Wonderful Life*

Ernest Saves Christmas*

The Teacher’s Children {Kids}

Our kids are 5,3, and 1, so these are all based on that younger age bracket.  They are still getting exposed to Christmas movies, so this list will probably change by next year.  But here they are anyway!

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer*

A Charlie Brown Christmas*

Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas*

Frosty the Snowman*

Saint Nicholas:  A Story of Joyful Giving*

* * * * * *

What are some of your favorite Christmas movies?

    There are so many good ones. White Christmas, The Preacher’s Wife, and Christmas in Connecticut are must-see movies in my house every year. 🙂

      Oh man, forgot all about White Christmas! I’ll have to add the other 2 to my list – haven’t seen them. :-/ Thanks, Mindy!
