I used to love summer, but spring has become one of my favorite seasons. I love the warmer (but not hot) temperatures and the beauty of new life all around. It’s a special time of year and a great time to make memories with your family. Since I’m not always good at executing my good intentions, I rely on my kids to help come up with spring bucket list ideas.

My kids are still young, but they are old enough to enjoy sitting down together to brainstorm fun things we can do each season. We’ve done it for the past year and they have really enjoyed it, especially when I post it on the fridge. We don’t stress a whole lot about getting to every single thing, but it’s still fun to jot them down and try to be intentional.
I like to break our bucket list into different categories: places to go, special treats, craft/learning activity, and outdoor activities.
If you aren’t sure how to get started, here are some ideas for your spring bucket list. The great thing is that these ideas are either very affordable or maybe even free! Making memories together does NOT have to cost you a lot of money or kill your budget.
PLACES TO GO
1. Take a family bike ride
I love the longer days of spring when the daylight lingers longer and longer. Riding bikes in the evening is such a fun way to end the day.
2. Visit a local farm or petting zoo
Checking out a local farm or petting zoo is so much fun in the spring, especially when there are new babies to visit!
3. Go to a spring festival
Our county has all sorts of fun festivals in the springtime. Whether it’s flying a kite or to celebrate the Easter season, they are always a hit with kids.
SPECIAL TREATS
4. Get an ice cream cone
Sometimes a simple ice cream cone is all you really need. After all the hot cocoa of the cold winter months, it’s a nice change to head out for ice cream!
5. Bake spring cookies
It’s fun to get in the kitchen and decorate some basic sugar cookies. There are tons of fancy ideas on Pinterest if you are up for the challenge, but decorating with simple icings and fun colors can be just as fun sometimes!
6. Eat strawberry shortcake
Our family LOVES strawberries, so we get excited when strawberries are in season! Strawberry shortcake is a hit in our home.
CRAFT/LEARNING ACTIVITY
7. Start an herb garden
Herbs are one of the simplest things to grow and can add so much wonderful flavor to cooking. Keep it even simpler and buy one of the herb garden kits at your local store to help you get started. They are usually very affordable.
8. Decorate Easter eggs
I have such fond memories of decorating eggs for Easter. It’s so fun and doesn’t require any serious crafting knowledge, so it’s a winner for me!
9. Take a nature walk
Spring is such a great time to get outdoors and observe all the new life in nature. Take it slow and enjoy talking about everything you observe with your kids.
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
10. Plant flowers together
My kids love helping me outside in the yard. It’s a great way to teach them while getting some work down outside!
11. Feed the ducks
I have great memories of doing feeding the ducks as a kid. Grab some old bread and head out to a nearby lake or pond. It’s so much fun!
12. Dance in the rain
I confess that spontaneous things like this don’t come naturally for me. I’m trying to be more adventurous with my kids these days!
OTHER
13. Have a picnic outside
We love picnics outdoors when the weather is nice. You can go somewhere or just have a picnic in your own backyard!
14. Go to a baseball game
It’s not spring until baseball season has begun, right? Go see your local pro team if you can fit it into you budget, but little league games can be just as fun!
15. Visit a new playground
Check out some new playgrounds in your local area. After being cooped up inside all winter, my kids are always excited to get and visit some playgrounds!
Since my kids loved creating our bucket list last summer and this past fall, I’m really excited to get started on our spring bucket list!
If you need some help getting started, I’m excited to share this FREE spring bucket list printable today. I’ve broken the list up into the 4 main categories I mentioned above. I included “other” for anything else that doesn’t fit into the other categories. Brainstorm and then mark them off together as you go!!

Fun ideas! We planted an herb garden this spring – a first for our family. Now if I can just keep the 2 year old from helping too much with the plants….;)
