Our Spring Break

May 8, 2012 by Sarah

Last year, we spent Spring Break visiting with family down in Tupelo, Mississippi.  This year, we had hoped to do some travelling as well, but our recent home purchase changed our plans just a bit.

Rather than relaxing with family and catching up on sleep, the men in our family spent the entire week working hard at our “new” house.  Here are some of the pictures….because words can’t really do the week justice.  Please remember that I mentioned this was a fixer upper – you need lots of imagination!!  🙂  These pictures are from early April.

Notice the door is open b/c lots of debris and old junk was on its way out!  See the old dishwasher on the right?
All of the debris made its way to this lovely dumpster.  After decisions were made to gut the bathroom on the first floor, this was a necessity!

Living Room (leading into office/play area): BEFORE

Living Room: AFTER wallpaper removal has begun and all the kitchen cabinets/moldings made their way into the room

Bathroom #1: BEFORE

Bathroom #1: AFTER a total gut down to the studs and floor joists.  Crazy!

Bathroom #1: another view of the back wall.. Whoever added the bathroom on the second floor butchered the house to do the plumbing.  NOT COOL!
Bathroom #1: the floor is now gone and you can see directly into the crawlspace.

I will have to show you the pictures of the kitchen next.  That’s an entirely different post for another day!  We have some big decisions to make regarding the best way to put this all back together with limited funds, so we’d definitely covet your prayers!  Like with many home renovation projects, things seems to always balloon into bigger issues than you usually anticipate, so we desparately need the Lord to give us wisdom on how to proceed!
