We had a fantastic Easter this year! I absolutely love the celebration of the Risen Savior, along with all the other springy activities that the day brings!
This year, my family (along with Kevin’s father) was in town to celebrate. Most everyone arrived on Friday evening, so my grandmother’s house was packed with people! Since my father and Kevin’s father were in town to help work on our house, they began work on Saturday before Easter (my brother-in-law helped too). My sister and I were out running some errands and we left the kids at home with MiMi (my mother) and my grandmother. I wish I had some pictures to share of that day b/c they did a small Easter egg hunt in the front yard. My mother was paired up with Savannah and she told me that she did great picking up the eggs.
On Sunday, we all went to church. Some family went to church with my grandmother, but my sister’s family and Kevin’s father joined us at our church. The sermon was great – it was about how we reconcile the fact that God has conquered death, while many are in the midst of hard and very real pain. I thought it was a great message b/c it is the reality of this life. It’s fine and dandy to say and believe that Christ accomplished it all when He rose from the grave, but it is not always as easy to believe when you are in the midst of a really tough storm. I thought it was a great topic for this Easter! I was really encouraged and hope it gave a lot of hope to those who heard it!
That afternoon we basically just relaxed and enjoyed our time together. We had some yummy food (ham, salad, deviled eggs, squash casserole, green bean casserole, and some great desserts) and just enjoyed the beautiful day! It was good to relax because the rest of the week proved to be crazy as the men worked on our house! I’ll post more details on that later!
I hope you all enjoyed this Easter season! Although we can celebrate the Risen Lord each day, it’s always a nice way to intentionally reflect on the beautiful gift we have been given and remember that while grace is free to us, it is not free…..Christ paid a very large price to give us eternal life! I am so humbled when I remember that reality!
