The kids and I are back from our weekend away. I don’t love travelling without my other half, but when he has to work some weekends, it happens!
Our main reason for heading out of town was so we could go to my niece’s 9th birthday party. I honestly can’t believe she’s almost a decade old because it seems like just the other day when I got the call about my sister going into labor….and then hearing something about this thing called pre-eclampsia.
I had no clue what it was at the time (or exactly how serious it can be), but it’s amazing what age and a few pregnancies of my own can do to educate me. We are so thankful that God caused my sister to go into labor when she did, so that Mackenzie and my sister would be exactly where they needed to be to receive the care they didn’t even know they needed. Praise the Lord for C-sections and modern medicines!
I decided to head up to Baltimore a little early, so I ended up tagging along with my sister on Friday while she did some party prep. It was nice to be out and about just the two of us since we never get to do that when we are in our own elements. I wish we could do more of that!
The party was on Saturday afternoon and was at my sister’s gym. They had a great set up and I can totally see the appeal for having a party there. The kids got to swim for the first hour and then it was on to the play area for some snacks and then cake and ice cream. Savannah had a blast and I can’t thank Mi-Mi enough for swimming with her. I was totally boycotting the pool – there’s just something about being in a swimsuit past August that does not appeal to me. I’m in fall mood I guess. 🙂
Brady stuck with me for the most part. I let him down for a bit before the big kids were finished swimming, but after that, it was a little chaotic so he got held quite a bit. He still did great and got lots of attention from whatever relative wanted to snuggle with him.
The party was a lot of fun and I think it’s safe to say the Mac had a great time celebrating with her friends! Happy Birthday, Mackenzie!
We came back on Sunday and were excited to see Daddy. It’s nice to get away sometimes, but it’s always a reminder of how much I love my own home. There’s just no place like it!
What did you do this weekend?
