50+ Minimalist Easter Basket Ideas

April 6, 2017 by Sarah

Easter is just around the corner and it’s time to think about getting ready to celebrate!  You may have figured out the cute outfits, but you can’t forget about Easter baskets.  As I’ve started to purge and declutter our home, my love for minimalism has filtered into every aspect of our life, including things like Easter baskets!  If you are looking for some minimalist Easter basket ideas, then look no further.  I’m sharing over 50 minimalist Easter basket ideas today!

Do you hate junk, but love Easter? These 50+ minimalist Easter basket ideas will help you create a fun yet practical Easter basket!

I’ve already mentioned how I love spring, but I also love Easter specifically.  It’s such a fun holiday, yet not nearly as overwhelming and stressful as some holidays can be.  I’m a Jesus girl, so Easter is very meaningful for our entire family.  We try to make it as much about Jesus as we can, but we do like to have fun and give our kids Easter baskets.

As I’ve been focusing on decluttering and tidying our home (The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up is a great resource!), my mission to eliminate “junk” has filtered into all areas of life…even Easter baskets.

With that in mind, here is our minimalist approach to Easter baskets.  We like to keep them simple and practical, while still being fun.  Hopefully these 50+ minimalist Easter basket ideas will give you lots of ideas!

Minimalist Easter Basket Ideas

 Set a budget

Before you even get started with specific ideas, determine what you can spend on Easter baskets.  Don’t stress if you don’t have a ton of money to spend (hello Dollar Tree!), but set a budget and commit to sticking to it.

A budget will ensure you don’t go into debt and spend money you don’t have.  It will also keep you from going absolutely crazy, buying every single cute (and often junky) item you see when you are out shopping.  Your budget is your boundary and boundaries are a good thing!

Include things they need

Easter baskets are a fun way to stock up on necessities like hygiene items, clothing accessories, and seasonal necessities.  Our kids always need some of these items, so we make it more fun and include some in their baskets.

  • character Band Aids
  • toothpaste
  • toothbrush
  • flossers
  • body wash
  • bubble bath
  • lotion
  • lip gloss
  • nail polish
  • hair accessories
  • underwear
  • socks
  • summer pajamas
  • flip flops
  • sandals
  • sunglasses
  • goggles
  • summer hat
  • bathing suits – boy/girl

Consumables are king

Include some fun snacks that you don’t normally buy.  Those are in addition to Easter candy, of course.  ?

I also like other consumables such as new craft or art supplies.  My kids can use up art supplies quickly so Easter is a great time to stock up.

  • crayons
  • markers
  • colored pencils
  • paint
  • drawing paper
  • coloring books
  • journal
  • Model Magic
  • Play Doh
  • kinetic sand
  • sidewalk chalk
  • bubbles

Educational can be fun too

Consider a new book or some sort of educational item.  In the past, we’ve tried to include a religious book.

  • book
  • The Jesus Storybook Bible
  • flashcards
  • handwriting placemats
  • memory game
  • Mad Libs
  • binoculars
  • gardening kit

Small toys or games

We don’t buy our kids toys throughout the year, so we get them something small for their Easter baskets.  It might be a small toy to add to their collection, but I also enjoy selecting outdoor toys to use in the backyard.  The keyword is small – these are minimalist Easter basket ideas, after all.  😉

  • board games
  • card games
  • figurines
  • small Lego set
  • keychain
  • frisbee
  • wiffleball and bat
  • outdoor ball
  • pool toys
  • sand toys

Experience gifts

I am a big fan of making memories rather than collecting junk.  Whether it’s doing something together at home or going out somewhere, they can be really fun gift ideas.

  • movie tickets
  • gift card for ice cream
  • new DVD to watch at home

I love being able to give my kids some fun things for Easter, but we desire to keep it simple and focus on celebrating Jesus’ resurrection with friends and family.  There is nothing wrong with doing more, but minimalist Easter baskets work really well for us.  I hope this list is helpful for you too!

This house was built in the 1940s and likely housed a family our size, or maybe larger. It's amazing to think how our concept of wants and needs have changed since then.

"The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness "The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness we feel is found not in us but outside of us. The solutions to our problems and pain aren't found in self-love, but in God's love.

The God who created us, who created the universe, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever, is the one who provides us with the purpose and satisfaction we're seeking. While self love depletes, God's love for us doesn't. He showed us his love by sending Jesus to die for our sins so that we could be forgiven and live forever with him. Self-love is superficial and temporary. God's love is profound and eternal."

"The first myth that you are enough. My counter was this: you're not you'll never be enough, and that's okay, because God is."
