Easter 2013

April 7, 2013 by Sarah

We had a wonderful Easter this year!  It crept up on me somewhat and we weren’t able to squeeze in all of the festivities that I had hoped, but we did some fun things and ultimately tried to focus most of our attention on the true meaning behind Easter.  Easter bunnies don’t hold anything to the Risen Savior!

The day began with some Easter basket fun.  This was the second year that we got Savannah an Easter basket, but really the first year that she actually got excited about it.

Daddy woke her up in the morning and brought her down to see her loot!

In case you can’t see, she got some Hello Kitty stickers, sidewalk chalk, a Strawberry Shortcake DVD, candy, and The Jesus Storybook Bible (which was my personal favorite).

My parents came down for the weekend (and into the following week to help with some small projects), so it was nice to spend the day with them, my grandmother, and my aunt and uncle.  We went to church after the Easter basket fun and ate lunch at my grandmother’s house afterwards.  It was a chilly day, but it was still nice.  And let me just say that taking pictures with 2 children is even more difficult than I imagined!

Some little girl was not happy about picture time!

I love how the picture where Brady has the best smile is the one where Savannah has the most terrible look on her face!

Easter tends to be a little emotional for me.  For some reason, my thoughts usually go back to my first Easter without Andrew, which was a tough one for me.  So, there’s some sadness and missing on that day.  But (and I mean a big BUT), in the same breath, I get overwhelmed with the Lord’s goodness when we talk about His sacrifice more deliberately on Easter Sunday.  I simply cannot fathom the pain and torture that He endured for a sinner like me and I am so thankful that He LIVES!  Because, He lives, there is hope!

I hope you had a wonderful Easter!
