Frugal Fashion Friday – Denim Shirt & Bright Colored Pants

November 8, 2013 by Sarah

Today’s outfit was inspired by my desire to wear a pair of pants other than jeans.  I feel like jeans are such a staple around here {which I don’t have a problem with}, but I wanted to try to get a little use out of some of my other pants.

I looked in my closet and noticed my bright salmon colored pants and thought it would be a great pairing with my denim shirt.  I headed on over to Pinterest to confirm this might be a good idea…and I was right!  Here’s what I found.

Original pins:

Chambray shirt and orange shorts. In my world chambray shirt goes with everything.

Could put together something similar with my orange pants, chambray shirt, and blazer

I realized that I really loved the look of the bright colored bottoms with the more plain top, so I was excited to try out my version.  Here’s how it turned out.  As always, please ignore my non-fashion blogger pictures so lovingly snapped by my hubby.  He’s a teacher, remember?!!  🙂

Obviously, my pants are not cropped.  In fact, they are way too long!  I had no idea they looked this long until seeing these pictures, so now I am even more convinced that these need to be hemmed.  They are talls, but I guess the last time I wore these, I was wearing heals. Ha!

I broke out my black belt and went for the tucked in look on top.  I also went for my long gold necklace and gold hoop earrings for my jewelry.  Poor Brady ended up in the picture because he kept hovering around my feet.  He’s gettin’ to be fast!

I should have looked at my inspiration photos more clearly and went for the black flats, but I forgot and just grabbed something quick before we headed out the door.  We were on our way to church, so the shoe choice was made on the fly.

Overall, I liked it.  I’ve always liked bright colored pants, but I hadn’t always known what top to wear with them.  I definitely think the denim shirt would look good with most any bright colored pants.  Now whether this is a “fall” outfit or not, I’m not sure, but I went for it anyway.  I’m a rule breaker, remember?

Here’s the breakdown on the outfit:
