This weekend, our Christmas festivities officially began. We are still working on decorating our house and the Christmas tree, but the activities started anyway. It’s all about the memories anyway, right?
We decided to mark one activity off our Christmas bucket list this weekend by attending The Bethlehem Walk on Friday night. It’s slowly becoming a family tradition and I love that it always happens the first weekend of December. For those who aren’t familiar, it is essentially a walk through life in Bethlehem during the time of Jesus’ birth. They reenact Jesus’ birth, but also carry it through to His ministry and then His death and resurrection. I love starting off our festivities with a reminder of the reason we celebrate.
I was able to join some wonderful ladies from our church at the annual Women’s Christmas Tea. Some of the ladies made some beautiful centerpieces, but I decided to just enjoy the good company and good food. What can I say, I’m not Martha Stewart and I was too tired to try this time. 🙂 One of the ladies shared some of her faith journey and it was such a sweet time. I am always so encouraged by being with these precious ladies. I even got a snapshot of another Teacher’s Wife, who happened to be wearing a cute and frugal outfit….perhaps she will be willing to share details with us later.
Despite some wet and cold weather, we made it to church Sunday morning and I’m so glad we did. One of the things I love about our church is the focus on foreign missions. Today was our Missions Sunday and it was such a nice time to hear about what God is doing all around the world. It’s so easy to get focused on myself and what I feel like God is or isn’t doing in my sphere of influence, but it’s a humbling reminder that God is at work around the globe. We are the lucky ones to be just a small part of it.
We ended the weekend with some delicious Mexican food from Chuy’s. In case you haven’t heard, I’ve become slightly obsessed with good chips and salsa. I’m no longer satisfied with store bought and I had been craving some salsa from Chuy’s for a couple of weeks now {no, I’m not pregnant so don’t even think it}. 🙂 I’d only eaten Chuy’s salsa twice before, but I was hooked immediately and couldn’t seem to get it off my mind. So, despite some sleet after church, we made our way to enjoy some good food with some good friends.
Before the kids got in bed, I had this great idea to take some photos of the kids in their Christmas jammies wrapped in white Christmas lights. I probably should have looked up some sort of tutorial because I could not seem to get the camera to work with me…or maybe it was just me….or maybe it was both. Either the pictures were too dark, blurry or I couldn’t get that soft glow I was going for, but at least we tried. 🙂

You are too sweet, Erin! I was a little bummed that they didn't turn out how I envisioned but then I thought it made for a cute memory and lots of laughs so it was okay! Happy holidays to you too! 🙂
