I don’t know about you guys, but I have been dragging this week! My energy has just gone out the window and any amount of productivity has come to a crashing hault.
Kev and I had planned to get up and get going early so that we could take the kids to Maymont before lunch and nap time rolled around. After we both got a slow start and saw that it was supposed to be super hot, we figured we’d wait and go after nap time. Of course, a few minutes before we were ready to head out the door, it starts to rain!
We both desperately wanted to get out and do something fun with the kids, but my brain was not in the mood to think or plan, so I let Kev take the lead. We all just hopped in the car and Kev was our tour guide.
First stop was dinner at Five Guys! I don’t think I’ve eaten there since I was pregnant with Brady, so it was a nice treat. {Side note: For some reason, I have always craved Five Guys fries during pregnancies!} Nice for the taste buds, but not so nice for my Weight Watchers point calculator! Ha!
Kev had packed some slices of bread, so I had a feeling ducks would be involved in our after-dinner activity if the weather would allow it. We drove around a little and ended up at the University of Richmond. Since one of the reasons I chose to go to the UR was because of how beautiful the campus is, I always love to go back and visit! {We live minutes away, but don’t take advantage nearly enough!}.
Miss Savannah had a little accident when we were walking around the lake {Sorry to the joggers who probably jogged through her pee!}, so we had to do a wardrobe change halfway through our visit. She got to feed the geese and ducks and I was reminded of why I can not stand the geese over there! They tend to be super aggressive and start hissing after a while – NOT COOL!
Even though I had been back to the campus when some of us met up for a mini 10 year reunion (I posted about that HERE), I hadn’t driven around some parts of the campus recently and asked Kev to drive around on our way out. I was so glad we did because I saw where they had added some buildings behind some of the residence halls.
At first glance, I wasn’t quite sure what the building was but it turned out to be sorority houses (more like lodges or meeting rooms since UR doesn’t have Greek housing). The sad part is that my sorority was kicked off campus a few years back and doesn’t get to reap the benefits of this nice addition to campus! Each little sign had the name of a sorority on it and I saw that one was generically marked with the spider mascot, so I’m hoping that Alpha Chi Omega will eventually make a comeback!
We had a nice time together as a family, but man I feel old every time I visit my alma mater! I remember being 20 and thinking that people in their 30’s were so much older and more mature than me. And now I’m in my early 30’s and still feel like I’m a baby! CRA-ZY!
