Homemade Snow Ice Cream

February 18, 2015 by Sarah

I am not a cold weather person.  I’m just not.  The way I like to enjoy the cold and snowy weather is under a blanket, sitting by a nice warm fire, sipping on hot cocoa or a cup of coffee…or any combination of those.

But, being that I’m married to a teacher, I still LOVE a snow day!  And since we experienced one yesterday and my husband made homemade snow cream for us, I thought it would be fun to post his recipe in case you are looking for a way to enjoy the snow without having to go outside in it for very long.  Whatever you do, just make sure the snow is freshly fallen.  Dirty snow is not appetizing!  🙂

ENJOY!

Homemade Snow Ice Cream
Author: Sarah Eddins
Recipe type: Dessert, Ice Cream
Prep time:  5 mins
Total time:  5 mins

This is such a fun recipe to make after freshly fallen snow!
Ingredients
  • 1 can (12 fl. oz.) evaporated milk
  • 1.5 tsp. vanilla extract
  • ¾ C. white sugar
  • ~10 C. fresh snow
Instructions
  1. In a large bowl, combine evaporated milk, vanilla, and sugar.
  2. Stir in snow gradually. Keep adding until you reach your desired consistency.
  3. Serve immediately. Freeze any leftovers!
  4. ** If your snow cream melts too much while you are stirring, you can put it in the freezer and enjoy once it has hardened a bit. We ate some of ours immediately and then had some later in the day and enjoyed both.
