This past week was pretty busy around our house.  Our middle guy turned 5 on Sunday and we decided to throw him his first friend birthday party this past weekend!  We celebrate birthdays as a family each year, but started a tradition of doing an actual party when each of our kids turn 5.  We keep it very simple and pretty small but it still required planning and preparation to pull it off.

And by the way, I’m definitely not a natural when it comes to throwing a party.  You know the people I’m talking about, right?  They actually amaze me at how easy they make it look, but I’m just not one of them.  I’ve learned to accept that about myself and figure out ways to throw parties even though it can be a little overwhelming for me.

With most everything else in my life, planning a party includes a list!  (Seriously though, I make lists for everything!)  Once I start jotting things down, I immediately feel a sense of relief.  One problem though is that my lists can get sloppy and they have even been mistaken for trash in the past!

As I started planning my son’s birthday party a few weeks ago, I decided to get my lists more organized.  No more scribbled notes all over the place.  Today, I’m sharing my birthday party planner printable with you!  I found that it helped me so much as I planned for the party and I hope it helps you too!

First, there is a place to for the event details.  Then, I included the main elements to consider when planning a birthday party:  guests, activities & games, décor & supplies, and food.  I even have a place for your shopping list and to-do list.  My favorite part is that everything is all in one place!  I kept the birthday party planner printable with me for my errands and marked things off as I shopped and completed tasks.

Our little guy had a blast at his party, so I would say it was a success!  The party planning process ahead of time went really too.  Being organized made the process so much smoother and less stressful.  Keep an eye out for more details on how we kept the costs down – I’m planning to share some of those details soon!

I hope you’ll print off a copy of the birthday party planner printable or pin this post for later!
