In case you guys are starting to think I’m vain or just plain crazy, I wanted to make sure you all understand what this weekly post is really all about. In a nutshell, Frugal Fashion Friday has become a fun little place to post my attempts at looking somewhat put together…..on a budget.
I’ve been having fun not wearing maternity clothes and trying to see what I can put together. Some weeks, I just use what is already in my closet and other times I may share about how I’m trying to wear some “new” frugal finds. And by all means, this is a place where you can let me know what YOU think. I need all the help I can get, people!
Warning:
Having Kev take this week’s pictures was brutal. I thought I liked the outfit when I was heading out the door to run some errands, but I’m not so sure after seeing these photos. So, just know you were warned! 🙂
I don’t know if I ever actually mentioned it here, but I finally purchased a denim shirt so I was excited to try it out for fall. I wore it with shorts when the weather was warm. I had planned to wear it with my yellow chino pants, but was in more of a casual mood since I was running a lot of errands on this particular day.
I wore my yellow earrings again and my gold necklace, but my favorite accessory was this cute little girl. She had just woken up from a nap but wanted to be in the picture!
Since I wasn’t totally sold on this outfit, feel free to let me know your suggestions. I love the shirt, but I still need to figure out how to wear it for the fall. I’m still going to try the shirt with some of my pants at some point.
What are your thoughts on wearing a denim shirt with jeans?
And what is the best way to wear skinny jeans with ballet flats?
I rolled mine up a little, but I’m not sure if that was the best idea. Sounds off in the comments! Let me have it. 🙂

I bought a lighter denim shirt this fall also….I was told as long as I paired it with dark jeans I was fine so I think you look great!!

I love wearing ballet flats and pair them with anything! I cuff the edges of my jeans too when wearing them since a small gap to separate the leg and foot are kinda needed when wearing such an understated shoe. I love your jewerly too!

I love ballet flats too, but I am not sure about how they go with skinny jeans and my body type – ha! Thanks for the jewelry compliment! 🙂

skinny jeans looks amazing with knee high boots. i have boots in black, camel brown, and dark brown and all look great with dark denim skinnys. like you said, they really balance out your curves. i do sometimes wear ballet flats with skinny jeans too, but i typically wear a cute, flowy tunic on top to balance out the more tapered and tighter pants. it's all about proportions. if you wear tighter on the bottom, wear something bit looser on top.
and i ADORE leggings. and this is coming from someone who is incredibly modest and self-conscious about tight clothing. you just need to find longer tops to cover your bum, and you're all set! but leggings can be incredibly versatile and they are super comfy. i practically lived in them when i was pregnant, because i still felt stylish even though i was bigger. 🙂

I think you hit the nail on the head for my body type. I have no issue wearing skinny jeans, but feel more confident when I can balance out the tapered leg. I am looking for a pair of camel/cognac boots {I only have 1 other pair of boots now} but can't spend too much on them. Thanks for the leggings encouragement. I love all the pictures I see of people wearing them, but I just need to make it work for me and my body type! I love the tunic idea – need to go shopping again when Kev gets paid! 🙂
