Construction Complete

September 30, 2013 by Sarah

Let me be the first to welcome you to the new and improved The Teachers Wife!!

A couple of weeks ago, I told you about my upcoming blog makeover.  Well, I’m happy to let you know {in case you can’t tell for yourself} that it’s finally complete.  Yipp-eeeeeeee!

I could not be more thrilled with how it turned.  Now, let me tell you how I found the sweet person behind it all, Andrea at Slightly Askew Designs.

It all started when I began reading over at Mix and Match Family about a year or so ago.  I really enjoyed Shay’s family blog and thought it was a really cute design.  A couple of months ago when I was trying to figure out way to spruce up my blog, I decided to email Shay with some basic blog questions.  At that point, I was trying to decide whether to switch over to WordPress along with purchasing my own domain name, but was also trying to keep the costs down.

Shay was so sweet and responded to all my questions in a very timely manner, which I really appreciated.  I would imagine her blog gets lots of traffic and she gets lots of emails, so I was thankful to just get a response!  Through some of those emails, Shay mentioned that she used her good friend Andrea for all her blog and design work, so of course I went to Andrea’s business blog to check it out!

I loved Andrea’s scrapbooky and whimsical style and thought her prices were very reasonable, so I took the plunge and shot her an email to let her know my thoughts and see if she was interested in the challenge!  She was so receptive and seemed really excited to help me out with my blog makeover.

I really appreciated Andrea working with me as my ideas for my blog were still very much in the works.  I told her what my name would be and the basic theme of my blog, but had no clear vision of what I wanted it to look like.  I just knew I wanted it to be cute and fun, so I was hoping Andrea could take it from there.

When I saw her initial pass at my header, I was THRILLED!  I showed it to Kev and he really liked it as well.  I think that means a lot coming from a guy – ha!  I knew that I was in good hands even though I hadn’t seen the final results yet.

Needless to say, I hope you all enjoy the new look as much as I do.  And if you are in the market for some blog design work for yourself, I would definitely recommend Andrea!  I plan to use her again for some other “spruce ups” or graphics as I continue along.  Check out her business site HERE and her family blog HERE.

Just beware, she is one busy gal and you may end up tired after reading some of her posts.  I have no idea how she has the energy to do it all, but she manages to balance her job as a middle school teacher, her precious family, and her design business like a champ.

You will fall in love with her and her family, so beware!

Thanks again, Andrea!

I'm actually cleaning/dusting the ceiling fan in our guest room. I saw this tip years ago and I've been doing it ever since, although probably not as often as I should! 🤪

Snag an old pillowcase and drag it off each blade so the dust stays inside of it. Then, wash it in your next laundry load for easy clean up!

This is where the meal magic happens in our house. This is where the meal magic happens in our house. Don't ever let anyone convince you that you have to have a large (and often expensive) kitchen in order to feed your family.

Is there anything wrong with a large and expensive kitchen? Nope!

Can they be helpful? Absolutely!

This house was built in the 1940s and likely housed a family our size, or maybe larger. It's amazing to think how our concept of wants and needs have changed since then.

Maybe someday we'll have a larger kitchen, but for now, I'm thankful that this small kitchen allows me to have everything at my fingertips quickly! 😁
"The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness "The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness we feel is found not in us but outside of us. The solutions to our problems and pain aren't found in self-love, but in God's love.

The God who created us, who created the universe, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever, is the one who provides us with the purpose and satisfaction we're seeking. While self love depletes, God's love for us doesn't. He showed us his love by sending Jesus to die for our sins so that we could be forgiven and live forever with him. Self-love is superficial and temporary. God's love is profound and eternal."

"The first myth that you are enough. My counter was this: you're not you'll never be enough, and that's okay, because God is."
