Another One Bites the Dust

August 27, 2011 by Sarah

This past weekend, Kevin and I travelled up to New Jersey for a wedding!  My dear college friend (and roommate for a year) was getting married and there was no way we were missing the event.  I was also asked to read in the ceremony, which I was honored to do.  I have to say that it was a little comical that they picked the Protestant girl to read a passage from a book found in the Catholic Bible.  I didn’t know how to pronounce the book of Sirach until the day of the rehearsal!  It all worked out though!  πŸ™‚
We decided to let Savannah spend the weekend with Mimi and Baba up in Baltimore while we were away.  I was a little anxious at first and we missed her like crazy, but she did great!  And even though I felt like a piece of my heart was missing with Savannah being in Baltimore, it was really nice to be away… just Kevin and I.  Don’t get me wrong, I love our daughter so much that it hurts sometimes, but there’s something so nice about being with your spouse for an entire weekend without the worries of taking care of a baby.
We decided to drive up to Baltimore on Thursday night so we could spend a little time with my family before we travelled the rest of the way to New Jersey.  I also wanted to get Savannah settled in a little before we had to leave her.  On Saturday morning, we left Baltimore for New Jersey to attend the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.  We enjoyed a great meal and got to share/hear stories about the bride and groom.  I’ve known her for 12 years at this point and we shared some great memories during college, so it was nice to reminisce!  I was enjoying the rehearsal dinner so much that I didn’t get any pictures!  πŸ™
We need a new camera that can zoom in and not take dark pictures!

The wedding ceremony was at 3pm on Sunday, so we had the morning to sleep in a little and take our time getting ready.  It was a beautiful ceremony and the bride looked gorgeous!  You could see the love on their faces and it is obvious that they are head over heals!
Could they be anymore giddy?!
The reception was quite the event going from 6pm-midnight!  We started the reception off with some delicious food.  The cocktail hour could have been a meal by itself, but then we headed into the ballroom for a the official dinner – filet mignon, green beans, and some sort of potato!  Yum-O!
Getting ready to dig in!  Poor Jason was making a weird face in the background!

There was dancing throughout the entire reception and I’m proud to say that Kevin actually enjoyed himself out on the dance floor!  I practically had to twist his arm to dance with me at our own wedding, so this was a huge accomplishment!

Kevin and I really had a wonderful time celebrating Claudine and David’s wedding, and enjoyed some extended time together just the two of us.  We also had a blast catching up with some old friends that we don’t get to see nearly enough.

My college roomies (LOVE them)!  We shared an apartment our senior year!

And it’s looking like we may be attending another wedding in the spring when another college friend is getting married (they just recently got engaged)!  Can’t wait for that one too!  πŸ™‚

Have any of you been to any fun weddings lately?
