Frugal Fashion Friday – Goodwill Find

November 15, 2013 by Sarah

Before I get started with today’s Frugal Fashion Friday outfit, I wanted to let you know that I’m linking up again with Kelly at Kelly’s Korner.  Her link up today is all about connecting local bloggers.  I have been telling Kev for months that I’d really like to meet more local bloggers so I can pick their brains and just chat blogging, so I’m hoping to make some new friends.  And if you are a blogger looking to meet new people in your local area, you should link up too!

This fall and winter, I feel like I’ve been on the hunt for all sorts of wardrobe basics.  When I say that I haven’t done much shopping for myself since I quit work after having Savannah, I mean it.  Sad, but true.

But since money is even tighter these next couple of months while we prepare for gift-giving and a little travelling at Christmas, I haven’t been able to spend much on myself.  Kev and the kids have needed things worse than me, so they took priority which is totally fine.  I have clean clothes to wear, so I’m not complaining…too much!  πŸ™‚

Last week though, I ventured out to a couple of Goodwill stores and a consignment store to see what they had as far as outerwear {I’m on the hunt for much more but outerwear is higher priority now that the cold weather is setting in}.  Let me say that I picked the wrong time of year to be looking for a fleece jacket and a pea coat secondhand.  I totally should have been snagging up some good deals at the end of last season, but I had an infant and was probably too sleep deprived to think that clearly. πŸ™‚

But, what I did find was a basic shirt that I think will make a nice addition to my closet.  Though it wasn’t what I was looking for originally, I went ahead and bought it because it was a great price and I know I’ll get lots of use out of it.

I decided to wear the shirt with one of my favorite pairs of jeans.  These jeans are a staple around here for sure.  I wasn’t sure at first about wearing such a dark color jean with a black shirt, but I like it {I think the picture makes the denim look a little lighter than it really is}.

One of the things I like about the shirt is that it’s tailored yet not too fitted.  I also like the little bit of gathering at the bust line.  It sort of adds a little more interest.  I’m not a fashion blogger, so please excuse my lack of descriptive adjectives. πŸ™‚

For some reason, when I wear a black shirt, I always tend to pull out red accessories.  I know I could have worn most anything else with it, but red always comes to mind first {and I also need to build up my accessories since I don’t have tons to choose from anyway}.

Here’s the breakdown on the outfit:
***********************
Pants:  Gap Long and Lean Jeans
Shirt:  Goodwill – $4.99 {SCORE!}
Shoes: Target
Earrings:  Handpicked
Necklace: Kohls

    I'm so not an accessories girl! So I find myself wearing the same accessories again and again frequently. I love your red shoes!

      Thanks! It was love at first sight when I saw them at Target a couple of years ago. πŸ™‚
