Recipe Roundup – Spicy Sausage Pasta & 30 Min Chili

January 9, 2014 by Sarah

I’m so proud of myself because it’s Thursday and we haven’t eaten out for dinner or had to resort to pancakes or cereal {not that there’s anything wrong with that} this entire week.  After having a nice break from cooking over the holidays, it has been nice to get in the kitchen again.  Did I really just say that?
I think the other reason I was excited to cook this week was because I wanted to try some new recipes.  I pinned them fairly recently and was anxious to see if they were as yummy as the bloggers claimed.  I’m here to tell you that they were super yummy and they have officially been transferred from my Recipes to Try board to my Recipes I Have Tried {And Liked} board.
Look at these beautiful pictures for yourself and tell me you aren’t drooling.  I won’t believe you anyway!

These recipes were fairly simple and required ingredients that were fairly inexpensive or that we typically have in our pantry.  For the record, Pioneer Woman’s basic chili is one of my favorites, but this chili recipe has more of a Mexican flair to it which is nice too.  In these cold winter months, I love having multiple chili recipes to draw from!
Both of these dishes also had a little “kick” to them, so if you don’t like that sort of thing, then you may want to take a pass {or just add some extra sour cream to the chili to tone it down}.  If you are up for some flavor and spice, then these are totally up your alley!
I hope you enjoy these as much as we have this week!

sarah, i make that spicy sausage pasta ALL THE TIME. it has become a staple dinner in our house since i first discovered it. it's so yummy! i make it with whole wheat rotini pasta, btw. i find that that rotini holds the flavor/sauce better than penne.

    glad you like it too!

That's so funny, Erin! I so wish I had found it earlier b/c it will be a staple dinner in our house now too. Kev kept raving about it and I love serving something other than ground beef and chicken {I feel like those are our standard proteins most of the time}. Thanks for the tip on the pasta- good to know! 🙂

I'm actually cleaning/dusting the ceiling fan in our guest room. I saw this tip years ago and I've been doing it ever since, although probably not as often as I should! 🤪

Snag an old pillowcase and drag it off each blade so the dust stays inside of it. Then, wash it in your next laundry load for easy clean up!

This is where the meal magic happens in our house. This is where the meal magic happens in our house. Don't ever let anyone convince you that you have to have a large (and often expensive) kitchen in order to feed your family.

Is there anything wrong with a large and expensive kitchen? Nope!

Can they be helpful? Absolutely!

This house was built in the 1940s and likely housed a family our size, or maybe larger. It's amazing to think how our concept of wants and needs have changed since then.

Maybe someday we'll have a larger kitchen, but for now, I'm thankful that this small kitchen allows me to have everything at my fingertips quickly! 😁
"The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness "The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness we feel is found not in us but outside of us. The solutions to our problems and pain aren't found in self-love, but in God's love.

The God who created us, who created the universe, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever, is the one who provides us with the purpose and satisfaction we're seeking. While self love depletes, God's love for us doesn't. He showed us his love by sending Jesus to die for our sins so that we could be forgiven and live forever with him. Self-love is superficial and temporary. God's love is profound and eternal."
