Five on Friday

January 10, 2014 by Sarah

THE GOOD LIFE BLOG

I’m linking up again with Darci at The
Good Life Blog
 for Five on Friday.  I don’t know if I’ll do this every week, but it’s
sort of a fun way to share what’s going on without doing an entire post on each
thing.  But, I am still planning to do a Frugal Fashion Friday post
later tonight once I have hubby home to snap a couple of pictures for me.
 I didn’t plan ahead very well for the post this week.

{ONE}
Brady turned 15 months this week!  The
pediatrician gave him a good report.  He’s been cutting one of his bottom
teeth and has been a little cranky at nap time, but who can blame him.  I
need to do his 15 month post so I can document it, but it seems like we just
celebrated his first birthday the other day.  He’ll be 18 months before we
know it!

{TWO}

I don’t know if I posted an update on our
upstairs bathroom.  The guys laid the tile and then grouted it the day
before Christmas Eve, but it’s not looking so good right now.  From what
we’re reading, it sounds like the sponge was too damp when Kev was wiping off
the haze.  So, we are left with grout that has loads and loads of bubbles.
 And let me tell you, this tile has tons of grout lines.  We knew it
would need some work when we got back from our trip, but it looks worse than
when we left it.  We are researching the best way to fix it and trying to
keep a positive attitude, but it just seems like every project we tackle like
this always takes 4 times the effort and money than we anticipate.  You’d
think we would have learned by now.

{THREE}
I was tempted to drive through at a fast food
place on Wednesday after I picked up Savannah
from preschool.  It was cold and sometimes I like to enjoy a special treat in the middle of the week.  I talked myself
out of it because we didn’t need to spend the money.  Then, I remembered my Chick-fil-A 2014 calendar card.  The free item for January is Chicken Tortilla Soup so I picked some
up for myself to eat later.  Oh my goodness!  That stuff was so yummy
and the perfect choice for a super cold day.  Savannah and Brady were more than happy to
eat their grilled cheeses, so don’t feel too bad for them.

Savannah got 4 board games this Christmas from various
relatives.  We had opened most of them already, but decided to break open
Candy Land this week.  I love that she is interested in board games now,
but the new Candy Land sort of creeps me out.  For some reason, it sort of
reminds me of the Bratz dolls.  And the Bratz dolls scare me…just
sayin’.  We still had fun though.  She’s still learning the rules,
but she actually won a couple rounds on her own.  She’s growing up so quickly.

{FIVE}
My mom gave me Ann Voskamp’s book One Thousand Gifts.
 I know it’s been out for a while and that she’s since released another
great book, but I’m so excited to get started on this one.  I’ve heard from so
many people that the book is life-changing.  I can’t wait to dive in
myself now that I have my own copy!  I’m thinking this weekend is going to be a great time to start.

Happy Friday, friends!

    Whoa – that is a very busy Candy Land game! I guess I'm just comparing it to the 90s version. Board games with kids are so fun. You'll have to let us know Savannah's favorites!

      I agree! I guess I just liked the simpler board. As we play more of them, I'll make sure to share her faves! 🙂
