My 15 Goals for 2014 {February Update}

March 11, 2014 by Sarah

Happy Monday!
I had such a great weekend.  I had a lot of great time with friends and family this weekend, which made it so special.  I was seriously bummed yesterday evening because the weekend was ending and tried to remedy it by watching one of my favorite movies, Pride and Prejudice.  It helped, but I was still in mourning when I woke up today.  ðŸ™‚
Last Monday was my random facts post since it was my birthday, but I still wanted to post an update on my yearly goals before the month got away from me.  I made a little progress, but could have done better.

Marriage
1.  1 date night each month {can be at home dates but must be 1 date out each quarter}
2.  Enjoy 1 weekend away or attend 1 marriage conference
3.  Read 1-2 marriage books

Mothering
4.  1 play date and/or date night with Savannah each month
5.  Attend dotMom or some other motherhood conference

Personal
6.  Read 12 books this year {ongoing}
7.  Work to get 7 hours of sleep each night {ongoing}
8.  Finish my year-long devotional book  {ongoing}
9.  Begin exercising again

Blogging
10.  Plan blog posts 1 month out
11.  Submit 4 guest posts to blogs I enjoy
12.  Read 1-2 books on blogging {completed 1 book}

Financial
13.  Fully-fund our emergency fund {ongoing}
14.  Save up to purchase some extra insurance this summer {ongoing}
15.  Buy a new computer {working on #13 and #14 first and then we’ll move on to this one}

Victories

– Kev and I had a great night out to celebrate Valentine’s Day.  We learned a little bit of ballroom dancing and laughed a whole lot!
– The kids and I actually had a couple of play dates this past month.  It’s so fun to get together with other moms and kids.
– I’ve been doing fairly well with getting at least 7 hours of sleep.
– I completed one of the books on my winter reading list, which was about blogging.  It was a great read and really helpful.
– We got a tax refund back, which allowed us to make some good progress on our emergency fund.  We hope to have it fully-funded again by the summer.
– We are still setting aside money for #13 and #14, so it’s great to see some progress!

Challenges

– I’ve gotten behind a bit in my reading.  I would like to read 2 more books by the end of the month, but it’s probably not realistic.  I’ll be content if I can just finish the second book I started.
– I’ve been getting my 7 hours of sleep, but I’d still like to work more on getting to bed earlier and waking earlier in the morning.  It works out better when I get up at least 30 mins earlier than the children.
– I haven’t exercised at all this month.  It’s not looking like a membership to the Y is going to happen at this point, but I need to do something.  I may need to break out my Pilates videos to do while the kids nap.  It’s a short video and would be something.
– I’ve been a little better planning out blog posts {usually at least a week out}, but I still want to plan things out further.  I enjoyed a personal planning retreat last month, and may need to plan another one specifically for blogging.
