Friday Favorites

September 13, 2014 by Sarah

Momfessionals

Today I decided against my planned post for something a little simpler, so I’m linking up with Andrea and friends for Friday Favorites!  Sometimes you just need a brain dump post, right?  It’s been a crazy week around here and mostly revolving around the kids.  It’s been good stuff, but just kept me busy.  And this gal is getting bigger by the minute, so it takes a lot more energy to get the everyday things done.  The end is in sight though and baby is doing great…so we are thankful!

{ONE}

Consignment sale season is upon us!  Since I’m an expectant mother, I was able to shop during the preview night for one of my favorite children’s consignment sales.  It is a great way to get “first dibs” on the items before they open for the public.  It’s getting a little harder to find as much stuff for Savannah now that she’s getting older, but I found some cute things at great prices.  I’m planning to go back on Saturday morning when they discount the marked items by 50% and I’ll be going to a couple others in the coming weeks!

{TWO}

Not only am I shopping consignment sales for my kids, but I decided to consign some of Savannah’s things in another sale next week.  I didn’t have it in me to consign her baby items yet, so I’m starting with 2T.  I’ve been crazy busy trying to spot clean any items and get them all entered into the tagging system.  Today, I spent a good portion of the day actually tagging the items themselves and Kev was able to snag some free hangers for me on his way home from work today so I can work on hanging all the items this weekend.  I have to drop everything off on Monday, so I’m anxious to see how this experience as a first time seller will go!!

{THREE}

Brady man has a boat load of clothes for the fall.  I went through all the hand-me-downs from my friend and my nephew, and I think there’s maybe 1 or 2 items I’ll need to purchase for him in order to make it through the season.  I do have some new items for both kids that I was able to score great deals on at the end of winter last year.

{FOUR}

This pretty girl started in her 3 year old preschool class this week.  She was so excited to go and said that she loved her new teacher before she even went on Tuesday.  In Savannah’s defense, she had met her {although very briefly} when we stopped for the open house last week.  She was giddy when I picked her up, so I’m guessing that is a good sign.  She loves that they dismiss her to me outside because it means she gets to walk by herself rather than me picking her up in her room.  Such a big girl?

So how was your week?

I'm actually cleaning/dusting the ceiling fan in our guest room. I saw this tip years ago and I've been doing it ever since, although probably not as often as I should! 🤪
.
Snag an old pillowcase and drag it off each blade so the dust stays inside of it. Then, wash it in your next laundry load for easy clean up!

This is where the meal magic happens in our house. This is where the meal magic happens in our house. Don't ever let anyone convince you that you have to have a large (and often expensive) kitchen in order to feed your family.
.
Is there anything wrong with a large and expensive kitchen? Nope!
.
Can they be helpful?  Absolutely!
.
This house was built in the 1940s and likely housed a family our size, or maybe larger. It's amazing to think how our concept of wants and needs have changed since then.
.
Maybe someday we'll have a larger kitchen, but for now, I'm thankful that this small kitchen allows me to have everything at my fingertips quickly! 😁
"The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness "The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness we feel is found not in us but outside of us. The solutions to our problems and pain aren't found in self-love, but in God's love.

The God who created us, who created the universe, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever, is the one who provides us with the purpose and satisfaction we're seeking. While self love depletes, God's love for us doesn't. He showed us his love by sending Jesus to die for our sins so that we could be forgiven and live forever with him. Self-love is superficial and temporary. God's love is profound and eternal."

"The first myth that you are enough. My counter was this: you're not you'll never be enough, and that's okay, because God is."

--Allie Beth Stuckey
