It’s sort of become a tradition for us to have homemade pizza one night during the weekend. By the time Friday rolls around, I’m usually needing a night off from cooking a full meal and this recipe for homemade pizza is easy-to-make, inexpensive, but also yummy!
I stumbled upon Crystal’s homemade pizza recipe after I first started reading over at MoneySavingMom.com. I was determined to give it a try and it hasn’t disappointed us yet.
Homemade Pizza (yields: 8 slices of pizza)
Weight Watchers pts. = 8 {this is with pepperoni and cheese}
Pizza Crust:
1 Tbsp. active dry yeast
1 C. warm water (105-115 deg. F)
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
2 1/2 C. flour
1. Dissolve the yeast in the water. Add the rest of the ingredients in and mix.
2. Dump onto a floured surface and knead into a smooth dough (five mins. or so).
3. Rolls out and press down onto a greased pizza pan.
4. Add toppings. (This is where you can be creative and use whatever ingredients you love). We typically stick with pepperoni and mozzarella cheese, but have also enjoyed BBQ sauce, shredded chicken and mozzarella cheese.
5. Bake at 450 deg. F for 12-15 mins. until the crust looks crispy and lightly browned.
Not only is this recipe yummy, but it literally takes about 30 minutes from the beginning to when it’s ready to eat. It requires basic pantry staples and the toppings can often be found on sale, which helps keep it a cost-effective alternative to ordering pizza.

That is pretty much the dough recipe we use to. I love it and it is so forgiving when I am not paying attention to it 😉

You are right about that! The last time I made it I accidentally put in twice the amount of sugar (I had forgotten I had already put it in) and I couldn't tell whatsoever. And even when I don't knead the dough as much as I should, it still turns out fine! 🙂 We love it.
