Change is Good

May 20, 2011 by Sarah

I have a tendency to wait way too long to get my hair trimmed/cut.  And unlike this post, this time it has nothing to do with having to explain about loosing Andrew to my stylist.  I just simply hate making the call and scheduling the time to do it, not to mention figuring out who can watch Savannah for me during the day when I make the trip.  Usually what ends up happening is I get so tired of my scraggly hair that I just wake up one day and do it – it’s like I hit my breaking point and can’t wait another day.  This is what happened a couple of weeks ago.
I made the call to schedule an appointment with Jamie only to find out that she no longer worked at my salon!  AHHHHH!  I wouldn’t let this stop me, however, so I called a friend of mine and asked where she got her hair cut recently.  Her hair always looks cute, and especially so after her most recent cut.  I was tight on cash, so was pleased to find out she had gotten it cut at Great Clips! Score!  And this friend was also spending her afternoon at home and was able to watch Savannah for me.  Gotta love good friends!
So, here are the results in case you hadn’t already picked up on my new ‘do from some of the recent pictures.
Before
After

I’m still getting used to it being short, but overall, I was pleased.  Kevin tends to like my hair long, but I think it just ends up looking scraggly and unhealthy since I don’t have the time nor patience to spend a significant amount of time styling it.  I also tend to think it weighs me down.  Luckily, my husband is lowkey and doesn’t really mind my shorter look.  He thinks I look great either way!

I opted for all one length this time and someone even referred to it as my “Mom Bob.”  I don’t know about that, but I’ll take it!  We shall see how long it takes me to get it cut again next time!

Do any of you have an opinion on the length of my hair?

And how do you prefer YOUR hair?

I haven't had a haircut since December and am avoiding it for the same reason. I read the post you linked and was encouraged. 🙂

I'm actually cleaning/dusting the ceiling fan in our guest room. I saw this tip years ago and I've been doing it ever since, although probably not as often as I should! 🤪

Snag an old pillowcase and drag it off each blade so the dust stays inside of it. Then, wash it in your next laundry load for easy clean up!

This is where the meal magic happens in our house. This is where the meal magic happens in our house. Don't ever let anyone convince you that you have to have a large (and often expensive) kitchen in order to feed your family.

Is there anything wrong with a large and expensive kitchen? Nope!
.
Can they be helpful? Absolutely!

This house was built in the 1940s and likely housed a family our size, or maybe larger. It's amazing to think how our concept of wants and needs have changed since then.

Maybe someday we'll have a larger kitchen, but for now, I'm thankful that this small kitchen allows me to have everything at my fingertips quickly! 😁
"The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness "The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness we feel is found not in us but outside of us. The solutions to our problems and pain aren't found in self-love, but in God's love.

The God who created us, who created the universe, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever, is the one who provides us with the purpose and satisfaction we're seeking. While self love depletes, God's love for us doesn't. He showed us his love by sending Jesus to die for our sins so that we could be forgiven and live forever with him. Self-love is superficial and temporary. God's love is profound and eternal."

"The first myth that you are enough. My counter was this: you're not you'll never be enough, and that's okay, because God is."
