Getting Caught Up

June 7, 2011 by Sarah

Since it’s been a little longer than I had planned since posting, I’ll give you the quick run down.  There’s nothing earthshattering going on, but here’s some of what we’ve been up to!

1.  Memorial Day Weekend
We spent the weekend visiting my family up in Baltimore.  We didn’t do anything fancy, but enjoyed relaxing and spending time together.  That’s the most important part in my book anyway!

2.  Women’s Mini Retreat
I spent this past Saturday morning (along with some other ladies from my church) away from the chaos of life and enjoyed some extended time with the Lord.  Kevin was helping administer the SAT’s, so my mom watched Savannah for me since they were in town anyway.  My time was so wonderful.  I enjoyed continuing through the book of Acts, was reminded of how my role as wife, mom, and homemaker can still have an eternal impact, and enjoyed some extended time of prayer.

3.  Trip to Williamsburg
My cousin will be leaving in a couple of weeks to join the United States Navy and in lieu of a weeklong farewell family vacation, some of us headed down to Williamsburg for 2 nights!  It’s about an hour drive for us, so it’s a nice getaway that doesn’t involve much driving and there is plenty to do.  Kevin is finishing up school and some of the other husbands had to work, but we still had a nice quick getaway!  We stayed at the Historic Powhatan Resort, which was really nice.  We visited Jamestown on Monday morning and enjoyed a late lunch at the Old Chickahominy House.  I forgot how tasty Virginia ham is- yum (it’s super salty for anyone wondering)! We spent most of the afternoon at the resort while babies took afternoon naps.  My sister and I had planned to go to the outlets in the evening, but we ran out of steam.

We’re all looking forward to school winding down for Kevin, so we can enjoy the start of summer.  Although the heat sure indicates that summer is in full swing, it’s not official in the Eddins household until school is out!
