Halloween 2012

November 1, 2012 by Sarah

Halloween really did creep up on me this year!  With limited sleep and still getting adjusted to life with a newborn, I figured it would!

We didn’t do much during the day today.  I was just glad to get a shower and get dressed – ha!  I had planned to dress Savannah in her cute Halloween shirt in the morning, only to discover it was in the dirty clothes hamper!  Oooooppppss!  I made sure to wash and dry it during her nap time, so she could wear it for a couple of hours and I could get a few pictures.  It’s all about the pictures, right?!!

Since Brady didn’t have an actual costume for the day, I put him in his special Halloween outfit.  He was sleepy during the photo sessions, so we didn’t get too many of our little guy.  I can’t wait to compare these with a year from now when he’ll be 1 year old (not that I’m trying to rush things)!

After Kev got home, we got Savannah dressed in her costume and took a few more pictures before heading out to my grandmother’s neighborhood for a little trick-or-treating.  For some reason, she really wanted to wear those boots!

I was hoping to take Brady out in my grandmother’s neighborhood so we could all trick-or-treat together, but he decided he needed to eat right as they left.  It worked out fine though and Kevin took Savannah to about 6 houses.  Kev said that she didn’t say “trick or treat” but did sign “thank you” at each door.

After we left my grandmother’s neighborhood, we stopped off at church where the youth group was having a FALLowship night.  We haven’t been back to church since Brady was born, so it was so nice to see everyone and see all the students’ costumes!  I think Savannah enjoyed it too!

Overall, we had a really nice evening.  We tend to keep Halloween pretty low key and just enjoy having an excuse to dress up in cute costumes, eat some candy, and visit with friends and/or family!  If you choose to participate in the holiday, I hope you had a wonderful night!

And in case you need a little chuckle, here is a little video of Kev trying to teach Savannah how to say “trick or treat.”  For some reason, he thought he would use a cookie in place of candy.  Yes, we are dorks!  🙂

I love her little dance in the video…it is like she is saying come on I am doing my best moves here and you wont give me a cookie!! 🙂 Karlena would say something but it was hard to understand…we went around our neighborhood with her and then I took the boys out for a little longer (too much walking for dad – that foot is still healing!) 🙂 Just wait until next year and Brady will be walking likely and Savannah will be showing him how it's done! 🙂

I'm actually cleaning/dusting the ceiling fan in our guest room. I saw this tip years ago and I've been doing it ever since, although probably not as often as I should! 🤪

Snag an old pillowcase and drag it off each blade so the dust stays inside of it. Then, wash it in your next laundry load for easy clean up!

Is there anything wrong with a large and expensive kitchen? Nope!

Can they be helpful? Absolutely!

This house was built in the 1940s and likely housed a family our size, or maybe larger. It's amazing to think how our concept of wants and needs have changed since then.

Maybe someday we'll have a larger kitchen, but for now, I'm thankful that this small kitchen allows me to have everything at my fingertips quickly! 😁
"The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness "The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness we feel is found not in us but outside of us. The solutions to our problems and pain aren't found in self-love, but in God's love.

The God who created us, who created the universe, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever, is the one who provides us with the purpose and satisfaction we're seeking. While self love depletes, God's love for us doesn't. He showed us his love by sending Jesus to die for our sins so that we could be forgiven and live forever with him. Self-love is superficial and temporary. God's love is profound and eternal."
