Lightning ‘AQueen Party!

March 14, 2013 by Sarah

Two weekends ago, we were up in Baltimore to celebrate my little nephew’s 2nd birthday!  Before I get into the weekend, I just need to say that it’s been so fun having a nephew, especially one so close in age to Savannah.  Both he and Savannah truly are miracle babies, each with their own special stories!  It took quite a while for little Matthew Reagan to join our family and he was prayed for for quite some time.  He holds a special little place in my heart and my sister is my hero!  God is faithful, indeed.
Matthew – taken shortly after he was born!  I’ll never forget his long fingers!
Our weekend was such a quick trip, but a lot of fun nonetheless.  We arrived on Friday night around 9:30pm or so, just in time to catch the final deal on Shark Tank (LOVE that show) and get the kids in bed before it got super duper late!

I got up with the kids on Saturday morning and let Kev sleep in a little, but it wasn’t bad since I had some helping hands.  There’s nothing like having relatives around to help out!  I had lots of plans for Saturday, but few of them actually panned out since we spent the good part of the morning in our pj’s just relaxing.  I had hoped to visit some consignment shops and have my Mom help me hem some pants for Kev, but time ran out.  I did make a trip out to get Matthew’s birthday present.  There’s nothing like purchasing a gift the day of the party, huh?
The party was nice…low key but nice, which I think is perfect for toddlers!  The party was in their church gym, so they pulled out all the Cozy Coupes, slides, and other fun toys!  I enjoyed talking with old friends (my sister may know them better but I still like to think they are my friends too!) while eating some yummy food.  My Ballpark hot dog seriously hit the spot!

There’s nothing like an open gymnasium and lots of trucks and trikes!

Kev will be teaching her to drive stick shift b/c I won’t have the patience.

How did my 8 year old niece all of a sudden start looking like a middle schooler?  She’s in second grade, by the way!

For anyone who says I have red hair, think again!  The girl cutting the cake has red hair (and that would be my sister)!

The funniest part was watching all the kids as they watched Matthew open his presents.  They wanted to immediately open up every single toy and I’m pretty sure they would have walked out the door with them too!  So precious!  Savannah had a total blast and was super excited that she even managed to get a helium  balloon to take home (to my parents house)!  Oh, the little things!
Oh my goodness!  I have the cutest nephew in the world!

Savannah loves Mac so much!  Follows her around everywhere!

Can’t leave out our little guy!

We had planned to get on the road somewhat early on Sunday, but didn’t manage to get away until after lunch.  It happened to be my birthday, so I was determined not to rush!  🙂  We had a nice weekend, but I wish it could have been longer.  The past couple of times I’ve been up to visit my family have been longer trips, so this just didn’t seem long enough!  We’ll have to do it again soon!

I'm actually cleaning/dusting the ceiling fan in our guest room. I saw this tip years ago and I've been doing it ever since, although probably not as often as I should! 🤪

Snag an old pillowcase and drag it off each blade so the dust stays inside of it. Then, wash it in your next laundry load for easy clean up!

This is where the meal magic happens in our house. This is where the meal magic happens in our house. Don't ever let anyone convince you that you have to have a large (and often expensive) kitchen in order to feed your family.
.
Is there anything wrong with a large and expensive kitchen? Nope!
.
Can they be helpful? Absolutely!
.
This house was built in the 1940s and likely housed a family our size, or maybe larger. It's amazing to think how our concept of wants and needs have changed since then.
.
Maybe someday we'll have a larger kitchen, but for now, I'm thankful that this small kitchen allows me to have everything at my fingertips quickly! 😁
"The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness "The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness we feel is found not in us but outside of us. The solutions to our problems and pain aren't found in self-love, but in God's love.

The God who created us, who created the universe, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever, is the one who provides us with the purpose and satisfaction we're seeking. While self love depletes, God's love for us doesn't. He showed us his love by sending Jesus to die for our sins so that we could be forgiven and live forever with him. Self-love is superficial and temporary. God's love is profound and eternal."

"The first myth that you are enough. My counter was this: you're not you'll never be enough, and that's okay, because God is."
