Brady at 3 Months

January 27, 2013 by Sarah

Happy 3 months, Brady Wayne!

As usual, I am late with your pictures and your latest happenings!  Part of the reason is because you were sick with a bad cold and cough when you officially turned 3 months!  We spent that entire week in our pajamas and retreated from the world so you could get better.  I was a little worried that you were eating half of what you normally eat and were so congested, but I’m so thankful it didn’t get serious and that you are back to your happy, smiley self!

Here is what you are up to right now.
* You are eating 6 times a day and are doing so well with the bottle.  You gobble it down quickly and are drinking 6 ozs. at most feedings.  I have actually started offering you 7 ozs. just this week and you are eating most of it too!  I am still pumping, but it is definitely a labor of love!
* You started sleeping through the night around 10 weeks, just before Christmas.  It’s been nice to get more uninterrupted sleep! I am still doing the “dreamfeed” at 10:30 or so, but am hoping to drop that in another month or so. We’ll wait and see how things go!
* You are doing really well with your naps.  You are awake between 1 hour to 1.25 hours between naps (which includes feeding and playtime) and go down very easily if I put you down before you get overtired.  I am in the process of dropping your fourth nap (the one right before 7:30 feeding) because you suddenly started waking at 3am in the middle of the night.  I thought it was a growth spurt at first but after a few days of waking, I thought I’d try to drop that last nap.  You have gone back to sleeping through the night, so hopefully that was it.

* You are no longer using the SwaddleMe.  You outgrew the ones we had and we just so happened to try a sleepsack that someone recently gave us and you loved it!  You’ve been sleeping so well that we haven’t even been offering you the pacifier anymore either.  I’ve seen you with your fingers in your mouth some lately, so perhaps you will find your thumb one of these days.

* You are wearing size 2 diapers!  You are growing so fast!

* You weighed 12 lbs. 12 ozs. (50%) and measured 25 inches (95%) long at your 2 month checkup over a month ago, but I know you weigh more than that now.  You were over 13 lbs. a couple of weeks ago, but I haven’t weighed you recently.

* You are wearing a couple of your 0-3 months outfits one last time, but I have transitioned you into 3-6 months for most things.  It’s been fun to see some new outfits on you, but sad to pack up your newborn and 3 months clothes!  What can I say, I’m emotional about change!

* You are doing well with tummy time, but it doesn’t end up lasting too long because you turn onto your back very soon after we put you down.  We’ll keep it up though!

* You enjoy kicking around on the floor on your playmat, but you also enjoy being held in our laps too!  You like to mix it up though and can get restless with too much of either!

* You are smiling quite a bit these days, especially when Mommy plays with you and tickles your chin or your belly!  I love those gummy smiles so much!

* You are also “talking” some and I hear you cooing more and more!  It’s so precious and I could listen to it all day!
* You are still sleeping downstairs for now, but we have moved you into the guest room.  Your room is set up and ready for you, but we were hoping to purchase the last pair of blinds before moving you upstairs.  We may go ahead and move you to your room and just use a sheet over your window until we can buy the blinds!  You’d never know the difference!

What a sweet little guy you are!  I felt so helpless that week when you were sick and it made my heart break to hear you coughing and congested!  I am so glad you are better and back to your normal self!  I’ve also found myself staring at you and being reminded of your big brother in heaven.  I long to see the two of you together one day, but I am also very grateful that God gave me another little boy to love on right now.  You will never replace your brother, but I just feel incredibly blessed to have you, my sweet Brady Wayne.  I pray over you every night and ask God to mold you into a servant leader.  I can’t wait to see how He uses you!  We love you so much!

I'm actually cleaning/dusting the ceiling fan in our guest room. I saw this tip years ago and I've been doing it ever since, although probably not as often as I should! 🤪
.
Snag an old pillowcase and drag it off each blade so the dust stays inside of it. Then, wash it in your next laundry load for easy clean up!

This is where the meal magic happens in our house. This is where the meal magic happens in our house. Don't ever let anyone convince you that you have to have a large (and often expensive) kitchen in order to feed your family.
.
Is there anything wrong with a large and expensive kitchen? Nope!
.
Can they be helpful? Absolutely!
.
This house was built in the 1940s and likely housed a family our size, or maybe larger. It's amazing to think how our concept of wants and needs have changed since then.
.
Maybe someday we'll have a larger kitchen, but for now, I'm thankful that this small kitchen allows me to have everything at my fingertips quickly! 😁
"The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness "The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness we feel is found not in us but outside of us. The solutions to our problems and pain aren't found in self-love, but in God's love.

The God who created us, who created the universe, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever, is the one who provides us with the purpose and satisfaction we're seeking. While self love depletes, God's love for us doesn't. He showed us his love by sending Jesus to die for our sins so that we could be forgiven and live forever with him. Self-love is superficial and temporary. God's love is profound and eternal."

"The first myth that you are enough. My counter was this: you're not you'll never be enough, and that's okay, because God is."
