4th of July Fun!

July 5, 2013 by Sarah

I love the 4th of July!  I love that it’s a fun, low key holiday placed right in the middle of summer!  And I love that it is a celebration of how God has blessed our amazing country!  I gave up trying to get a cute picture of the kids.  It’s practically impossible these days – ha!

Our day started out pretty normal.  Kev is not teaching summer school as he had hoped, but has been blessed with a part-time position.  That means that he’s been around quite a bit during the week, which has been so nice.  He even made the comment about how nice it was to not have think about lessons in the evenings this summer!  He took Savannah over to my grandmother’s house while he cut her grass, so I was with Brady at home and was able to get some housework and cooking done.

We met up with some friends in the late afternoon.  Prior to our dinner, the kids played in the inflatable pool. Savannah hasn’t done a whole lot of swimming yet, so she was a little tentative at first, but she really loved it! The wild boys didn’t scare her away! She even let her future husband Mason drive her around for a bit afterwards! So cute!

The dinner menu included hamburgers and hot dogs as the main attraction, but we had some corn on the cob, pasta salad, green beans, applesauce, and chips to go along with it!  The grill master did not disappoint!  We had an apple dessert topped with the best.ice cream.ever (have I mentioned how you need to stop what you are doing a buy Blue Bell ice cream immediately?)!

After we ate, we headed out to the old Richmond stadium and set up some chairs so we could watch a fireworks display nearby.  This was also Savannah’s first time seeing fireworks and she loved them!  I was afraid they’d scare Brady, but he didn’t mind them one bit!  He was so tired at that point, I don’t think he cared much about anything!
We hopped in our car towards the end of the display and timed it perfectly!  We got to watch the finale while driving out of the parking lot and missed the crazy traffic jams afterwards!  It worked out great! We had a fantastic day.  My head hit the pillow feeling super blessed!  I hope you enjoyed your 4th of July celebrations as well!
