Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July weekend! Our weekend was nice with our festivities that I posted about HERE, but our weekends have been different this summer since Kev is working on the weekends.
He is not teaching summer school as he normally does (apparently too many students did not fail their history classes and didn’t need to retake them), and he’s landed a part time position with mostly weekend hours. It’s okay though because he goes in later and has time off during the weekdays. We are both so thankful that he was able to land something, so he #1. can avoid getting bored (we both know that he’s secretly A.D.D. and would probably be miserable at home all day everyday for an entire summer) and #2. bring home a little extra bacon! 🙂
Today was a pretty typical day for us at the homestead. I spent far too many hours at the computer yesterday trying to organize our pictures on our external hard drive. I had been meaning to do that for a while now, but push came to shove when Shutterfly had a great deal on prints. Lesson learned though: keep your pictures somewhat organized on a routine basis so that you can keep it under control when it comes time to order!
Anyway, because of all that time spent on the computer yesterday, I had a boatload of housework to do today. My sister and her kids, along with my mom, are coming to town tomorrow so that means operation cleanup had to commence today! Seriously, I need to either pretend my house is on the market all the time or that we are always expecting visitors in order to light the proper fire in me!
So, today was pretty boring really (except for my guilty pleasure indulge in The Bachelorette), but there was a little excitement or “drama” shall we say with Miss Savannah girl today. And, in order to keep it real here on this blog of mine, I thought I’d share with you a little part of my day.
I’ll set the video up by saying that it was approaching lunchtime and I asked Savannah whether she wanted a peanut butter & jelly sandwich or a ham & cheese sandwich. Lesson #101 in parenting: do not give your child options when it comes to food, especially if your child is 2.5 years old and in the “yes/no” phase if you know what I mean. Her opinions change on a dime these days, so I guess you could say I had this coming.
But, there is hope my friends! As I said in the first video (if you could even hear my voice with Brady screaming in the background), I stuck to my guns and did not change her meal once it had been served. And what would you know? She ended up eating her entire ham & cheese sandwich with delight. She even ate her entire sandwich first, and left her applesauce and tomatoes for last. {Sorry about the video being flipped to the side. I have no idea how to fix it!}
So, if you are having one of those days and you need a good laugh, feel free to refer back to this video and chuckle a little bit, knowing that you are not alone!
And, I just may save this for Savannah’s rehearsal dinner someday!

oh my gosh….she sounds SO much like mollie. i never give choices for food. i make a plate and put it in front of her. half the time she eats it, sometimes she doesn't. i will not be a short order cook!
you handled that SO well. i tend to get way more frustrated than i should sometimes. it's so hard dealing with this age sometimes, isn't it? ughhh, you made me feel so much better! sometimes i forget that ALL kids this age are irrational!

Oh girl, I wish I handled myself like that all the time! Last week, I had one of those days when I was just so glad to get her in bed so that we could both have a re-do! I was letting her actions determine mine and it ended up being a downward spiral as the day progressed! Hang in there, Erin! You're a great momma!
