I Heart Target

August 28, 2013 by Sarah

I love me some Target!  I am not always able to get to Target each week, but I do try and hit them up at least every other week.  Aside from the beach, Target is my happy place.  Even if I don’t have money to spend, I could walk around there for hours and browse.

I’ve been really impressed with all the extra ways to save recently.  They’ve had store coupons for a while now, but have been doing more mobile coupons and have recently begun their Cartwheel offers, which can be combined with manufacturer’s and store coupons.  It can all add up to some decent savings.  Just another reason to LOVE me some Target! 🙂

I had a few things I needed, so the kids and I enjoyed a little Target run this morning.  I spent more than usual because I needed some things that didn’t have coupons.  I wouldn’t normally post about something as boring as a trip to Target, but I had such a nice time that I just had to come home and share.  🙂

First things first, I recently discovered these amazing shopping carts!

I have no idea where I have been all this time because I am confident these are not new, but this made my trip so much more enjoyable.  Savannah is normally inside the basket, which can become a problem when she decides she doesn’t want to sit in it anymore and wants to climb out.  I think Brady really enjoyed facing forward as well.  Though the cart is massive, I will be using it again!

My first stop whenever I enter a Target is the clearance jewelry aisle.  I saw a few things, but nothing really excited me at first.  Or at least the prices didn’t excite me.  As I was making my final turn, I spotted this beauty.

It  needs to join my collection rather soon.  I didn’t purchase it because I need to think on it.  Although $11.88 is a decent price, it would have been in my cart if it were marked in the $8 range {my sister gets annoyed with me and think I’m crazy, but that’s how my mind works}.  If it’s meant to be mine, it will still be there if I return to buy it.  🙂

Our next stop was the cleaning/laundry aisle.  Nothing exciting there whatsoever.  No great coupons to use and spending $3.99 on Shout Advanced makes me sick to my stomach.  I need to try my hand at making some homemade stain remover before I go broke.

I picked up a couple of containers of lunch meat since they were on sale and I had a Target coupon.  I was really intrigued by this and made sure to pick some up.

Once my eyes made contact, I knew what I would be eating for lunch.  It was really yummy and I will be returning in the next day or so to buy more.  Thankfully, you can print each online coupon twice!  🙂

I made my way to the baby aisle where I picked up some ointments for Brady Man.  He’s got a little rash that isn’t budging with A & D ointment so I picked up some knock-off Aquaphor.  We’ll see if it does the trick.

Then, we rounded the corner and saw this.

The merchandisers at Target are smart people, because they made my heart skip a beat.  I didn’t even attempt to dig through those aisles because the cart wouldn’t have fit and the kids were getting a little restless.  But, I shall return.  I’ll probably be annoyed when I find my swimsuit at 50% off.  Oh well, it happens.

Before we headed to the check out counter, I took a final look at this beauty.

I’m in love!

What do you guys think?

Do you love Target as much as I do?

If not, what is your favorite store?

I haven't done too much grocery shopping there, but certainly love picking up a few things here and there. It's nice to have that option now so if I'm running low on milk while I'm browsing through the jewelry aisle, I can kill two birds with one stone! 🙂 I'm glad to know I'm not the only Target junkie!

I totally understand your sisters looking at you like you are crazy because your shopping cart has a "you must be less than this price to enter" requirement. My sisters think I am CRAZY! I am SUCH a stickler for prices that there has to be a big time discount for me to think it a good deal. Like last year I was in DESPERATE need of a winter coat. I refused to pay the needed prices. On a trip to the outlets I found a $90 coat marked 50% off. At the check out my shopper's reward card took it down another 20%. Those are the kinds of deals I like! Way to go! I love hearing all your tips on how you guys make things work. I don't care how much money you make I think living frugally is ALWAYS a good thing!

We so need to go bargain hunting together one of these days! It's crazy but I get a little sick over paying full price for things – HATE HATE HATE it. I hope some of the tips are helpful…I definitely write about it to try to encourage rather than act like we know it all b/c we most definitely do NOT! 🙂

Yes…Target is a great place! It is especially nice to find the clearance items and specials! From your other post, I'd say, good job at getting some good deals. I love a denim, or chambray shirt…as it goes with so many things and can act as a light weight jacket when it is just starting to cool down in the fall. I think you got some bargains!

Thanks, Linda! I'm definitely trying to be more intentional when I shop for clothes b/c I need to increase the staple items in my wardrobe. I have way too many random pieces that may be cute alone, but aren't always as versatile. I have a long way to go! 🙂

"The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness "The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness we feel is found not in us but outside of us. The solutions to our problems and pain aren't found in self-love, but in God's love.

The God who created us, who created the universe, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever, is the one who provides us with the purpose and satisfaction we're seeking. While self love depletes, God's love for us doesn't. He showed us his love by sending Jesus to die for our sins so that we could be forgiven and live forever with him.
