Life Lately

February 3, 2015 by Sarah

As you can see from the lack of posts here lately, life has been pretty crazy!  Having a new baby in the house is an adjustment for anyone, but it’s definitely been busy trying to juggle the demands {and snuggles} of three.  I wouldn’t trade it for the world though, and feel so blessed to be their mama.  🙂
Now that Davis is sleeping through the night {9 hours at this point}, I’m much more rested and hoping that blogging can become more regular here.  I’ve really missed this blog and it’s funny how I have thoughts like “I should totally blog about that” as I go through these days with my little ones.  Once a blogger, always a blogger, I guess.  🙂
If you have happened to check in here randomly, you may have seen some back-dated personal/family posts from the past couple of months.  Since they are mostly just me documenting life, I realize they may not interest many of you.  Here are some of those links.

Christmas 2014
This past month, I feel like we’ve been at home a lot.  Kev’s family visited between Christmas and New Year.  We had a really nice, relaxing visit with them.  We were sad to see them go, but we’re already in talks about a trip to see them again this spring or summer.
We’ve also all had some level of coughing/congestion/runny nose over the past month.  We’re mostly well now, although Brady has a lingering cough.  It’s much better and doesn’t seem to be bothering him at all.

Poor Davis has been to the pediatrician more times this month than any of us, mostly because I didn’t want to take any chances with him being so little.  Between an ear infection and impetigo, this boy has been on antibiotics for most of the month!  Here’s to hoping spring is on its way soon.  🙂
Our little gal started ballet classes last week.  She seems to really enjoy it so far and happens to be the cutest little thing in her little ballet outfit.
On the home front, we were finally able to make some progress on the upstairs bathroom.  Instead of trying to tackle it ourselves, we hired a guy to do it for us.  It was the best money spent.  It took him a total of 5 hours for everything – 3 hours to put it up and then 2 hours to grout and caulk it.  We’re excited to keep moving forward with the project and hope to have it completed by the spring.
I have to confess that I’ve been struggling a bit with the winter blues, but things seem to be a bit better now that the kids are well and we are getting out more now.  In case you need some ideas on how to overcome the winter blues yourself, check out this post from last year.
Here’s to hoping I can get back into a more regular blog routine.  I’m hoping to get back to daily posts, but at this point, I’d be happy with at least 3 posts a week.  🙂

I'm actually cleaning/dusting the ceiling fan in our guest room. I saw this tip years ago and I've been doing it ever since, although probably not as often as I should! 🤪
.
Snag an old pillowcase and drag it off each blade so the dust stays inside of it. Then, wash it in your next laundry load for easy clean up!

This is where the meal magic happens in our house. This is where the meal magic happens in our house. Don't ever let anyone convince you that you have to have a large (and often expensive) kitchen in order to feed your family.
.
Is there anything wrong with a large and expensive kitchen? Nope!
.
Can they be helpful? Absolutely!
.
This house was built in the 1940s and likely housed a family our size, or maybe larger. It's amazing to think how our concept of wants and needs have changed since then.
.
Maybe someday we'll have a larger kitchen, but for now, I'm thankful that this small kitchen allows me to have everything at my fingertips quickly! 😁
"The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness "The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness we feel is found not in us but outside of us. The solutions to our problems and pain aren't found in self-love, but in God's love.

The God who created us, who created the universe, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever, is the one who provides us with the purpose and satisfaction we're seeking. While self love depletes, God's love for us doesn't. He showed us his love by sending Jesus to die for our sins so that we could be forgiven and live forever with him. Self-love is superficial and temporary. God's love is profound and eternal."

"The first myth that you are enough. My counter was this: you're not you'll never be enough, and that's okay, because God is."
