Some Big Life Updates

June 4, 2014 by Sarah

Life has been crazy around here these days.  There are 2 big pieces of news I wanted to go ahead and share with you.  They’re pretty big, so it only feels right to share with you all.

First, Kev has joined the Virginia National Guard!  He has been praying, thinking about it, and talking to his recruiter for a couple of months now, but it became official a week or so ago.  He will be joining a unit about 30 minutes from Richmond and will be serving 1 weekend a month and 2 weeks each summer.  This summer, he is hoping to complete his initial training for his job, but the timing of all that is still up in the air.  He’ll likely be gone for about 5 weeks, but we’re so proud of his willingness to serve our country again and help provide for our family in this way.  Once a Marine, always a Marine, but he’ll be a soldier now too!

Secondly, we are expecting again!  I am currently 19 weeks along {the picture below was at 13 wks} and we recently found out that we are having another little boy.  That’s 4 boys so far out of my 5 pregnancies – CRAZY!  My ultrasounds have all looked great and it’s reassuring to feel movements {my favorite part of pregnancy by far}.  The first trimester was exhausting and is the main reason for my infrequent blogging recently, but I’m feeling great now and my appetite is finally back to normal.  We are due at the end of October, a few weeks after Brady turns two years old.

I  am always a little hesitant to share pregnancy news over social media because I completely understand that it can be hurt for some women to read.  Please know that I’m praying right now for you as I am typing this post.  It is not my intention to bring pain to anyone and I want more than anything for infertility and pregnancy loss to not be a reality.  It is so hard, but know that my thoughts and prayers go out to you if you are experiencing that sting.

I figured I’d better share the news finally here on the blog since my husband let loose on Facebook.  He’s been dying to share since we found out in February and I had to calm him down a bit!  🙂

Happy Wednesday!

I'm actually cleaning/dusting the ceiling fan in our guest room. I saw this tip years ago and I've been doing it ever since, although probably not as often as I should! 🤪

Snag an old pillowcase and drag it off each blade so the dust stays inside of it. Then, wash it in your next laundry load for easy clean up!

This is where the meal magic happens in our house. This is where the meal magic happens in our house. Don't ever let anyone convince you that you have to have a large (and often expensive) kitchen in order to feed your family.
.
Is there anything wrong with a large and expensive kitchen? Nope!
.
Can they be helpful? Absolutely!
.
This house was built in the 1940s and likely housed a family our size, or maybe larger. It's amazing to think how our concept of wants and needs have changed since then.

Maybe someday we'll have a larger kitchen, but for now, I'm thankful that this small kitchen allows me to have everything at my fingertips quickly! 😁
"The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness "The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness we feel is found not in us but outside of us. The solutions to our problems and pain aren't found in self-love, but in God's love.

The God who created us, who created the universe, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever, is the one who provides us with the purpose and satisfaction we're seeking. While self love depletes, God's love for us doesn't. He showed us his love by sending Jesus to die for our sins so that we could be forgiven and live forever with him. Self-love is superficial and temporary. God's love is profound and eternal."

"The first myth that you are enough. My counter was this: you're not you'll never be enough, and that's okay, because God is."
