Yesterday was a big day in our house…it was Kevin and Savannah’s birthday!
The celebration for Savannah actually started the day before at preschool. Her school doesn’t allow food to be brought in, but they do encourage parents to bring in special napkins for snack time. Of course, we had to bring in some Strawberry Shortcake napkins to share with her friends.
Before dismissal, I came in and read two of her favorite books to the class. One was a Strawberry Shortcake book and another was Little Blue Truck Leads the Way. Her teacher and I weren’t sure the kids would be still long enough for both, but they did great. It was really sweet to get a little glimpse into Savannah’s preschool class….absolutely precious!
On birthday day, we started the day with some chocolate chip pancakes and whipped cream. Savannah was so excited about the whipped cream and kept asking for more. She also got a few serenades over the phone from family members, which she absolutely loved. I had hoped to get out to the library, but the weather was yucky and we decided to stay in and play at home. Savannah opened up her presents after she woke up, so she had some new things to keep her occupied.
Once Kev got home, we trekked out to his annual birthday meal restaurant, Red Robin. He loves that place so much that he signed up to be a rewards member a few years ago, so he gets a free burger on his birthday each year. It’s such a kid-friendly place that it works so well for our family. Kev didn’t want the attention of the restaurant on him, so he told the server to just sing for Savannah. She loved it…and the sundae that came with it.
We ended the night with some birthday cake. As you know by now, I’m not Martha Stewart so the cake looks a little….homemade…..shall we say. It was good though and that’s what counts. 🙂
I’m so thankful for these two birthday buddies. Brady and I are so lucky to have them. And even though it might bother some people to share their birthday, I hope it will only bring them closer together.
Happy Birthday, Birthday Buddies!
