Frugal Fashion Friday – Sweater Dress

January 31, 2014 by Sarah

I wasn’t planning to jump back on my Frugal Fashion Friday train yet, but I changed my mind when I remembered about today’s Pin-spired link up with Sheaffer, Shay, and Mel.  I love the idea of using Pinterest to inspire new outfits.  Genius!

A month or so ago while browsing through Old Navy, I spotted a cute taupe sweater dress.  I tried it on and liked it, but it wasn’t in the budget during December.  I had been looking for a tunic or some longer sweaters to wear with my leggings, so I was excited to see they had something that wasn’t terribly expensive.

Once I saw the outfit, I scoped out Pinterest to see how they put the look together and was pleased with some of the images I found.

Pin #1:
I am dying for a pair of cowboy boots now!
Pin #2:
And if murder weren’t a crime, I would kill for those hips!  🙂

Pinterest just confirmed that it would probably be a good investment, but I just needed to wait it out a little bit.  I stopped in earlier this month with a reward coupon in hand and finally made the purchase.  So, here’s my version.

The outfit seemed a little off balance for my body type, so I decided to add my denim jacket and I liked it much better.  Those skinny girls can get away with less on top, but not this girl!!  🙂

I wasn’t sure about whether to go for a scarf or necklace, but ultimately decided on the necklace since I already had a lot going on around my neck.  I love the scarf in Pin #1 though, so perhaps I’ll go that route if I don’t wear it with my denim jacket.  I wanted a pop of color so I chose my new mint earrings.

And if you needed any more convincing that I will never be a fashion blogger, I thought I’d try a different pose.  Ha!  I can hear my sister laughing already!  🙂

Very cute outfit re-creations with the sweater dress. I think it was a good choice to go with a necklace while wearing a jacket. At least that's what I would have done, anyway, lol. I don't like to feel too constricted around the neck!

I agree – normally I don't mind stuff arouund my neck, but it was too much for me. 🙂

I'm actually cleaning/dusting the ceiling fan in our guest room. I saw this tip years ago and I've been doing it ever since, although probably not as often as I should! 🤪

This is where the meal magic happens in our house. This is where the meal magic happens in our house. Don't ever let anyone convince you that you have to have a large (and often expensive) kitchen in order to feed your family.
.
Is there anything wrong with a large and expensive kitchen? Nope!
.
Can they be helpful? Absolutely!
.
This house was built in the 1940s and likely housed a family our size, or maybe larger. It's amazing to think how our concept of wants and needs have changed since then.

Maybe someday we'll have a larger kitchen, but for now, I'm thankful that this small kitchen allows me to have everything at my fingertips quickly! 😁
"The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness "The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness we feel is found not in us but outside of us. The solutions to our problems and pain aren't found in self-love, but in God's love.

The God who created us, who created the universe, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever, is the one who provides us with the purpose and satisfaction we're seeking. While self love depletes, God's love for us doesn't. He showed us his love by sending Jesus to die for our sins so that we could be forgiven and live forever with him. Self-love is superficial and temporary. God's love is profound and eternal."
