Brady at 3 Years

October 20, 2015 by Sarah

I can’t believe that this middle man is three years old!  It really seems like he’s grown leaps and bounds these past six months.

Here is what you are up to these days, little man.

*  You are a fair eater.  Some days you are picky and some days you eat okay, so I think overall it averages out.  There are definitely certain foods that you don’t like, but we still serve them and make sure you know our expectations.  You usually find at least one food you will eat on your plate at every meal.

*  You are doing great with sleeping now, although you sometimes resist bedtime.   But, what three year old doesn’t?  You are sharing a room with sissy and you seem to really enjoy it.  The transition from crib to bed was horrible this summer, so I’m very glad that you are doing better.  Bedtime is at 7:30pm and you usually sleep until 7-7:30am.

*  You are still napping from about 1.5-2 hours each day.  Sometimes you will boycott and not sleep, but you almost always need it.

*  You are officially potty trained!  I decided to give it a try on the first weekend that we had at home with Daddy in October.  You completely surprised me with how relatively painless it was.  By the second day, you didn’t have any accidents.  You are doing well at night too.  We have to watch your liquids closely and sometimes you do have nighttime accidents, but you are learning to wake up at night if you have to go and we are really pleased with your progress.

*  You are wearing size 3T clothes and size 9.5 shoes.

*  You are 38.75 inches tall and weigh 32.5 pounds.  Your pediatrician said you were growing well!  Your tubes are still in your ears at this point, but we are using drops to try and loosen them up so they fall out.  {One tube is out of the ear drum but still in the ear canal, while the other tube was still in the ear drum but appeared to be loosening}.  So far, we haven’t had any complications from them being in so long and I am hoping we will see some more positive progress when we visit the ENT again in a couple of months.

*  You continue to brush your teeth and love to rinse and spit the water.  I’m hoping to get you in for your first cleaning this winter!

*  Your speech is great!  I love hearing you string phrases together into sentences.  I am no expert, but it seems like your speech has matured these past 6 months and you tell me all sorts of things.  I love it!

*  You are a typical 3 year old and on the go constantly.  You love to play outside and are a great climber.  You are pretty fearless when it comes to playgrounds.

*  You also play well inside by yourself.  You love playing with your brother or sister, but can entertain yourself too.  You love figurines, looking through books, and working puzzles.  You do enjoy coloring and painting too!

*  You are such a silly little guy!  You love it when we have dance parties and will run around dancing and singing.  I love hearing you sing the words to songs and it reminds me that you are soaking up every thing you hear!

*  You love your sister so much, but she is also the first to aggravate you within minutes.  You miss her when she’s gone and fight with one another when she’s home!  I guess that’s normal, but it can be exhausting when listening to it.  I try to let you work out most issues yourselves, but I do intervene when necessary.

*  Your relationship with your brother has been blossoming now that he’s getting older and is mobile.  You mean well most of the time, but I do have to watch you because you forget that he’s still little compared to you.  One of these days you will be able to wrestle each other fairly!

*  You are very independent.  You love to dress yourself and you get frustrated when I try to help before you ask for it.  You are a big help with cleaning up {although you still require a lot of prompting}.

*  You are doing great in school!  You transitioned so well in the fall and walk right into your classroom on preschool days.  You were a little upset when you realized you only went to school 2 mornings {while sissy goes 3}, but you are used to it now and seem to enjoy our special time together too.

* * * * * *

Brady Wayne,
I feel like we have turned a corner.  This summer was pretty tough, but you seem to be a happier and more easily adaptable little man.  You still have some moments here and there, but overall you are a super sweet little guy.  You are determined and stubborn at times, but we seem to have fewer and fewer battles these days.  You have captured your Mommy’s heart for sure, and I can’t wait to see what the next year holds for you!

Brady’s fourth year seems to be off to a great start so far.  I love being a boy mom!

I'm actually cleaning/dusting the ceiling fan in our guest room. I saw this tip years ago and I've been doing it ever since, although probably not as often as I should! 🤪

Snag an old pillowcase and drag it off each blade so the dust stays inside of it. Then, wash it in your next laundry load for easy clean up!

This is where the meal magic happens in our house. This is where the meal magic happens in our house. Don't ever let anyone convince you that you have to have a large (and often expensive) kitchen in order to feed your family.
.
Is there anything wrong with a large and expensive kitchen? Nope!
.
Can they be helpful? Absolutely!
.
This house was built in the 1940s and likely housed a family our size, or maybe larger. It's amazing to think how our concept of wants and needs have changed since then.
.
Maybe someday we'll have a larger kitchen, but for now, I'm thankful that this small kitchen allows me to have everything at my fingertips quickly! 😁
"The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness "The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness we feel is found not in us but outside of us. The solutions to our problems and pain aren't found in self-love, but in God's love.

The God who created us, who created the universe, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever, is the one who provides us with the purpose and satisfaction we're seeking. While self love depletes, God's love for us doesn't. He showed us his love by sending Jesus to die for our sins so that we could be forgiven and live forever with him. Self-love is superficial and temporary. God's love is profound and eternal."

"The first myth that you are enough. My counter was this: you're not you'll never be enough, and that's okay, because God is."
