Hey friends! It’s Saturday so that means it’s another week of Ways We Save Saturday – where I share all the small and simple ways we save money throughout the week. Here goes!

1. We ate a lot of leftovers
This week, I barely had to cook because we had some leftovers we needed to eat up. Hubby is gone now for military duty, so I’m still getting used to cooking for only the kids and I. It’s meant we’ve had a good bit of leftovers and I’m taking advantage of not having to cook as often!
2. We ate a frozen skillet meal rather than takeout
Even though I haven’t had to cook much this week, there was one night when I just needed a quick meal. Lately, I’ve been trying to keep a few convenience frozen meals on hand for those sorts of nights. Even if it’s not a home cooked meal, it’s still better than having to buy takeout. If you shop at Aldi, then you may want to check out their chicken fried rice skillet meal. I thought it was quite tasty!
3. I make my daily coffee at home
I have grown to love having a cup or two each day. It’s something I look forward to in the mornings and often in the evenings before bed. Rarely do I buy coffee when I’m out though. I will meet up with friends for coffee on occasion, but I don’t buy coffee out on a daily basis which definitely saves me money. Buying coffee is a treat rather than a daily ritual for me, and I’m totally okay with it! Since I do still like to drink coffee on the go sometimes, I use a great travel coffee mug that does not leak!
4. Rented a movie from Redbox
I’ve been wanting to watch The Greatest Showman for a while now and I finally rented it at Redbox! Prices have gone up to $1.75 in our area (I remember when it was $1) but it’s still a great deal on renting movies. I may try to rent Wonder next!
5. Bought some discounted meat at Aldi
When I was doing my weekly shopping at Aldi, I made sure to browse the meat section even though I didn’t need any for this particular week (I have some in my freezer). I found some salmon and tilapia that were significantly discounted. I grabbed the tilapia for 54 cents (yes, you read that right!) and the salmon was $4. They expired the day I bought them, so I took advantage and stuck them in the freezer. I hope they’ll taste good!
Well, there you have it! I hope you have a great weekend!
