Brady at 11 Months

September 18, 2013 by Sarah

Happy 11 months, Brady Wayne!

While I am doing my best to enjoy every single day of your baby phase, it’s hard not to begin the countdown to when you will be 1!  This year has flown by so much and I can hardly believe it’s possible you are 11 months old.

Here is what you are up to these days {and let me just tell you that taking your picture is getting harder and harder}!

* You are still getting 4 bottles a day and drink 6-7 ozs. each time.  You still use your Medela Special Needs Feeder.  You are still drinking formula, but I started you on whole milk the other day.  We are going to take it slow, starting with 1 bottle of milk at a time.  So far, your only objection to it is that it is cold!

* You are becoming such a big eater.  I have already noticed that you eat more than what I remember of your sister.  She was a good eater at your age, but it seems like you eat a lot more!  You are eating all table foods, but we cut them up really small for you and make sure they are soft enough.

* You enjoy grilled cheese, cheese quesadillas, breads, oatmeal, yogurt, green beans, green peas, carrots, tomatoes, bananas, peaches, blueberries, strawberries, and most everything else we put in front of you.  You sometimes spit things out, but we continue to serve it to you and trust you will eventually try new things!

* You will play with your Sippy cup and chew on the spout, but so far you don’t seem interested in actually drinking from it.  I’m hoping it will click as we get closer to 12 months, but I’m anticipating it might take some time for you to learn.

* You are sleeping about 11-12 hours each night and we are so thankful!  You are down between 7:30-8pm and don’t wake until 7-7:30am.  You usually wake up in the mornings and make noises quietly in your crib.  I love that you take your time waking up.

* You are still taking 2 naps a day, but you sometimes miss your morning nap if we are out running errands.  You can do without it sometimes, but you are not ready to drop it altogether.  You typically sleep 1.5 hours in the morning (between 9:30-10am) and usually 2 hours in the afternoon (between 1-1:30pm).

 * You are wearing size 4 diapers.  I don’t have a recent weight check, but you seem to be gaining from what I can tell by carrying you around.

* You are wearing 9-12 months clothing, but I have been buying 12-18 months clothes for the fall and winter.  I enjoyed putting all your fall clothes in your closet and drawers and look forward to seeing you in some outfits!  Your 12 months clothes still fit you pretty well, so it may take you a little time to grow into your new clothes.

* You are crawling so fast now.  You are into everything and we have to watch you so much more closely now.  You are one determined little guy and will not let distance get in your way.  You can probably crawl as fast as I can walk!

* You are standing up all the time now.  Just today you were pulling the crayons and markers off the table where we keep Savannah’s supplies and you were pulling things out of the trashcan as I was making dinner.  I have seen you cruising a little bit, but you haven’t been brave enough to let go yet.  You also do this cute thing where you prop yourself up on 1 knee and try to stand up in the middle of the floor.  You must have some strong legs!

* You are working on getting 2 more top teeth.  I can feel where they are coming in, but they have not poked through yet.  You have been chewing a ton and have had a runny nose, so it’s no surprise.  You are also driving me a little crazy because you like to grind your teeth.  I noticed the other day that it looks like you even chipped a bit of your top tooth!  Silly boy!

* You still love all things Savannah.  You enjoy being with her and playing with all of her toys {or as many of them as she’ll tolerate}.  You guys get silly sometimes when you play and I love hearing the belly laughs!

* You are becoming quite the “screamer” and I’ve had to remind you that we don’t scream to get what we wants.  I notice it mostly at mealtime, so I’m trying to be consistent with teaching you the signs for “more” and “all done.”

* You are becoming more and more vocal.  I am being more intentional about driving in the car without the radio on and that’s when I hear you the most.  You were so cute when we drove in the car to Baltimore this past weekend.  You talked almost the entire way there!

* Your hair is slowly starting to come in, but it surely is taking its time.  Your peach fuzz is becoming a little longer and I can see it most right after a bath.  Your hair in the back is getting longer, so we may need to trim it to avoid the mullet look.  I’m anxious to see what you look like with more hair, but at the same time I know it will make you look more mature and I’m not quite ready for that!

******************************
Brady Wayne,
You are a true delight, but I can see your strong will already starting to come out.  I pray that God will mold you into a humble leader and that you will do great things for Him.  You have captured my heart and I can’t remember what life was like without you.  We are looking forward to celebrating your big milestone in a couple more weeks!
Love,
Mommy

I'm actually cleaning/dusting the ceiling fan in our guest room. I saw this tip years ago and I've been doing it ever since, although probably not as often as I should! 🤪
.
Snag an old pillowcase and drag it off each blade so the dust stays inside of it. Then, wash it in your next laundry load for easy clean up!

This is where the meal magic happens in our house. This is where the meal magic happens in our house. Don't ever let anyone convince you that you have to have a large (and often expensive) kitchen in order to feed your family.
.
Is there anything wrong with a large and expensive kitchen? Nope!
.
Can they be helpful? Absolutely!

This house was built in the 1940s and likely housed a family our size, or maybe larger. It's amazing to think how our concept of wants and needs have changed since then.

Maybe someday we'll have a larger kitchen, but for now, I'm thankful that this small kitchen allows me to have everything at my fingertips quickly! 😁
"The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness "The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness we feel is found not in us but outside of us. The solutions to our problems and pain aren't found in self-love, but in God's love.

The God who created us, who created the universe, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever, is the one who provides us with the purpose and satisfaction we're seeking. While self love depletes, God's love for us doesn't. He showed us his love by sending Jesus to die for our sins so that we could be forgiven and live forever with him. Self-love is superficial and temporary. God's love is profound and eternal."

"The first myth that you are enough. My counter was this: you're not you'll never be enough, and that's okay, because God is."
