Things Always Looks Worse Before They Look Better

September 19, 2013 by Sarah

Have I bothered to mention that I’m in the middle of a blog makeover?

If I haven’t, sorry, but I am. 🙂

I got the name of a gal who does design work on the side {along with teaching middle school and being mom to some really cute kids} and decided to give it a shot and see if she’d be willing to help make my blog “look pretty.”  I’ll fill you in on who she is once it’s all up and running!  🙂

Back when all these blog ideas were swirling around in my head, I thought it would be perfect to make all the changes at once and launch everything around Back to School time.

The Teacher’s Wife blog…..Back to School…..get it? {eyes rolling}

But, I got excited and antsy and knew the blog makeover would take a little time so I decided to go ahead and launch my new web domain and blog name.  I wanted to proceed full steam ahead with my ideas and I knew the blog makeover would come eventually.

It’s taking some time, but I was so pleased when I saw the initial concepts.  I’m SUPER excited to see the end result and I hope you will like it as much as I’m convinced I will.

All that to say, as with most anything in life {at least it’s true with home renovations b/c I have pictures to prove it!}…..this blog has had to look worse before it looks better.

I’ve tried to slowly add some things here and there in my spare time and as ideas come, but I want to make sure you all know that I am fully aware that this site is NOT looking so hot right now.

It’s simple, basic and does the job I guess – and while I’d love to think you read here because you enjoy some of the content – but who wants to read a blog that is BORING looking?

Not me!!

So, hang in there with me folks…it’s all part of the process.

And the way I look at it, it can’t get much worse than this….so there is only one way to go and that’s UP!

Yeap, I figured I might as well embrace my hobby and go at it full throttle! We'll see how it goes 🙂 How come you gave up blogging, Erin? I've often thought you could totally do a fashion blog!

aw, thanks sarah! maybe one day i'll get back into it. i think for me, it's really hard for me to write about simple things, i tend to want to dive into deeper and more personal topics, that i'm just not sure i want everyone i know reading. i go back-and-forth with it though. i read so many blogs and whenever i read one that has a voice similar to mine, it makes me miss writing. never say never though!

I can totally understand that, Erin. Sometimes I want to post about deeper things I'm pondering, but struggle with how to articulate them. I have numerous topics floating around in my head that I simply haven't had the time to organize into a post that would make sense. And yes, there are some things that you just don't want to share with the world….I'd love to post more about marriage but haven't figured out how to be authentic but respect our marriage enough to not publicize everything. 🙂

Very true! This definitely applies to so many things in life….like spring cleaning and home organizing projects, too! You must be looking forward to seeing the blog come together soon!

Can't wait! No more free templates from Cutest Blog on the Block around here. And as I was putting away the kid's summer clothes today, I thought back to this post…..the room looked like a bomb went off when I was in the middle of it! 🙂

I'm actually cleaning/dusting the ceiling fan in our guest room. I saw this tip years ago and I've been doing it ever since, although probably not as often as I should! 🤪

Is there anything wrong with a large and expensive kitchen? Nope!

This house was built in the 1940s and likely housed a family our size, or maybe larger. It's amazing to think how our concept of wants and needs have changed since then.

Maybe someday we'll have a larger kitchen, but for now, I'm thankful that this small kitchen allows me to have everything at my fingertips quickly! 😁
"The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness "The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness we feel is found not in us but outside of us. The solutions to our problems and pain aren't found in self-love, but in God's love.

The God who created us, who created the universe, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever, is the one who provides us with the purpose and satisfaction we're seeking. While self love depletes, God's love for us doesn't. He showed us his love by sending Jesus to die for our sins so that we could be forgiven and live forever with him. Self-love is superficial and temporary. God's love is profound and eternal."
