Wedding Weekend

October 21, 2013 by Sarah

I apologize for the brief blog hiatus the past few days.  We had a lot going on that I will share later, but I wanted to get a post up about our fun weekend!

My cousin got married up in Deep Creek Lake, Maryland on Saturday, so we made the trek up since we definitely did not want to miss the fun.  Unfortunately, I didn’t get very many pictures of the fun weekend.

My family decided to rent a cabin within walking distance to the wedding venue/reception site.  It was really nice to be so close to everything and the cabin was really nice.  My aunt’s family had also rented the cabin next to ours, so we had lots of good family time.  There’s nothing prettier than the fall weather in the mountains.

We arrived on Friday afternoon, just in time to watch the wedding rehearsal.  We were not in the wedding, but my sister and I were being nosey and wanted to see how all the decorating had turned out.  We ended up being recruited as wedding coordinators {basically just telling everyone when they needed to walk down the aisle}.

After the rehearsal, we all headed to my aunts cabin for the rehearsal dinner.  My uncle is a great cook, so the food was delicious as always.  It was a lot of fun to be together and see some of my cousins friends and extended family members.  The kids loved being in all the commotion too.

The wedding ceremony was on Saturday at 2 o’clock, so we had a relaxing morning.  My sister and I weren’t totally sure how some of the details would work out with the ceremony since the DJ wasn’t at the rehearsal, but it turned out perfectly.  The bride was beautiful and the happy couple were married within 30 minutes.  It was a tad chilly and we wondered if the wind was going to blow the arbor over, but the best man {the grooms brother – my other cousin} saved it!

The reception was located in a really rustic barn on the property.  It was decorated so perfectly – it was really rustic, but very classy and quaint.  My uncle seated us on a table at the edge of the barn, which was the perfect spot for kids who wanted to run!  The food was yummy and the party was quite festive with lots of fun music and dancing.  Savannah was a little starstruck by the beautiful bride in her pretty white dress, but got up enough nerve to say hello and give her a hug.  So sweet!

We had to leave the reception earlier than I would have liked since the kids were exhausted.  We headed back to our cabin and crashed on the couches once the kids were in bed.  It started raining pretty heavily at that point, but it was fun to hear some of the reception from our cabin.

We headed back home around lunchtime on Sunday.  It was kind of a letdown to have to head back home.  Our family had been anticipating the wedding weekend for months, but it was such a fun time for everyone!  The happy couple is hopefully enjoying their honeymoon this week.  I have to admit that I wish I were in Jamaica right about now!!

I hope you had a fantastic weekend!
