Frugal Fashion Friday – Gingham Shirt

December 13, 2013 by Sarah

I love gingham.

Call me southern, call me old-fashioned, call me country, but I am so drawn to gingham!   So, when I spotted a green gingham shirt at Old Navy last spring, I knew I had to have it.

It got a lot of wear this spring/summer, but I haven’t known what to do with it now that the weather is cold.  I took to Pinterest to get some ideas.  This picture caught my eye and became the inspiration for my outfit.

Original Pin: HERE
Gingham Shirt

My version:

I wore my green gingham shirt under my cream colored sweater, trying to imitate the turned up sleeves like the girl in the picture.  I love seeing the gingham stick out from underneath the shirt.

 I paired my shirt/sweater with my skinny jeans and my dark brown knee-high boots.  I now know that I need to be adding a pair of khaki skinny fit cords to my shopping list very soon because I love the look of the khaki with the top in the original pin.  And of course, you already know some lighter brown/cognac knee-high boots are already on my shopping list.

Please excuse the mess in the bathtub behind me {and the fact that I’m standing on the side of the tub to get a snapshot}.  How dare the kids not put their bath toys away for my picture?  Believe me, thoughts of “you know you’re not a fashion blogger if….” are running through my mind as well.  Just keepin’ it real here, friend. 🙂
Here’s the breakdown on the outfit:
{including some of the great prices I recall paying}
**********************************
Shirt: Old Navy
Tank: NY &Co.
Sweater:  Ann Taylor Outlet
Jeans:  Old Navy
Boots: JC Penney – $35
Earrings:  Target – $3.58 {clearance price in store}

Happy Frugal Fashion Friday, friends!
