Back in October, I followed along closely with Erin at Blue-Eyed Bride as she posted each day during her Creating White Space series. She challenged herself and her readers to create more margin in their lives, so that we can all spend more quality time with our family, friends, and in the process allow the Lord to move in our homes. It was a great series and I’m thankful she took the time to give us a peak into her journey.
Savoring the Season
Ever since then, the concept has been on my heart and in my mind. As I go about my day and invitations come our way, it’s been so good to be able to step back and think about whether what we are doing might help or hinder us as a family. If nothing else, I want to think and pray before going about my daily routine and church or social events and without a thought to how it might impact our family.
Now that the Christmas season is upon us, I’m realizing how timely it was for Erin to post about Creating White Space because it will be tempting to over-plan, over-book, over-extend, and over-spend ourselves if we aren’t careful. This year, I’m determined to create enough white space for myself and our family so that we can all truly savor the season.
I don’t know what this will look like for us yet, but I am intentionally weighing each and every activity. Our schedule may or may not look any different than in year’s past, but I at least want to ensure that my heart {and hopefully in turn my family’s} is in a peaceful and unhurried place as each day of this season unfolds.
I want to make some special memories with my husband and children, to take some time to remember and honor our children in heaven, to give to others sacrificially, to celebrate the incredible gift we’ve been given in the person of Jesus Christ, and to laugh a whole, whole lot!

I hear ya, Kristin! I have to be intentional about it or I'll get sucked in! 🙂

Yes, I read some of her posts as they were coming out in October–and it's very true, December can be such a busy time–if there's something special you want to do, you have to make the time for it–and in order to do that you often have to say 'no' to something else.
