June Goals

June 7, 2016 by Sarah

May ended in a bit of a whirlwind.  I can hardly believe that my baby girl is finished with preschool and will be starting kindergarten in the fall.  All the people who told me it goes by so fast were correct!  Where on earth is the time going?

Since we did some spontaneous travelling at the beginning of the month and then had a jam packed week at the end of the month, I feel like my May goals sort of fell by the wayside.  It happens sometimes, and while I’m a little frustrated, I’m determined to move forward with June goals.  But, before we move on to that, here’s a quick recap of May.

1.  Have a date night with The Teacher
Didn’t happen.  Bummer.

2.  Schedule a physical for myself & appointment for Savannah
Didn’t happen either.

3.  Finish reading Marie Kondo’s book*
I loved this book and am looking forward to tidying my house and sharing the process with you!

4.  Create a strategy/plan/schedule for de-cluttering the house
I don’t have an official schedule for tidying, but I’m using Marie Kondo’s recommendation and going one category at a time.  I have to finish up my clothes – I still have coats, shoes, and accessories – and then I’ll move on to books. I shared a little bit already in a Facebook Live video.

5.  Short ab workout at least 3 times per week
Most weeks, I’ve been successful.

6.  Finish up the final touches of our upstairs bathroom renovation
Still need to find a window treatment and some accessories.  I need time to get out and shop!

7.  Spruce up the flower beds in the front yard
Didn’t happen.

8.  Make some decisions about switch to WordPress
This has actually kept me pretty busy behind the scenes, which is one reason why I haven’t been posting as much as I’d like.  I’m excited for what’s to come though, so stay tuned!

Here is my plan for June goals.

1.  Have a date night with The Teacher
I’m looking forward to a date night while we are on vacation later this month.

2.  Schedule a physical for myself & appointment for Savannah
Needs to happen.  No excuses this month!

3.  Continue tidying – finish up clothes and then move to books
I’m looking forward to continuing.

4.  Finish decorating upstairs bathroom & organizing linen closet
I’m so close, but I desperately need time to get out and shop for the last few items!

5.  Sell baby/household items
I’m donating most of the items that we are discarding while tidying, but I’d like to try and sell a few of them.

6.  Start brainstorming ideas for Savannah’s new room
We have been talking about ideas, but I’d like to get serious about the planning process.  I hope we can get started in July.

There you have it.  I’ll report back and let you know how I do.

I'm actually cleaning/dusting the ceiling fan in our guest room. I saw this tip years ago and I've been doing it ever since, although probably not as often as I should! 🤪
.
Snag an old pillowcase and drag it off each blade so the dust stays inside of it. Then, wash it in your next laundry load for easy clean up!

This is where the meal magic happens in our house. This is where the meal magic happens in our house. Don't ever let anyone convince you that you have to have a large (and often expensive) kitchen in order to feed your family.
.
Is there anything wrong with a large and expensive kitchen? Nope!
.
Can they be helpful? Absolutely!
.
This house was built in the 1940s and likely housed a family our size, or maybe larger. It's amazing to think how our concept of wants and needs have changed since then.
.
Maybe someday we'll have a larger kitchen, but for now, I'm thankful that this small kitchen allows me to have everything at my fingertips quickly! 😁
"The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness "The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness we feel is found not in us but outside of us. The solutions to our problems and pain aren't found in self-love, but in God's love.

The God who created us, who created the universe, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever, is the one who provides us with the purpose and satisfaction we're seeking. While self love depletes, God's love for us doesn't. He showed us his love by sending Jesus to die for our sins so that we could be forgiven and live forever with him. Self-love is superficial and temporary. God's love is profound and eternal."

"The first myth that you are enough. My counter was this: you're not you'll never be enough, and that's okay, because God is."
