July Goals

July 8, 2016 by Sarah

July Goals

With the Independence Day holiday this week, I’m a little behind on posting July goals.  But since I love setting goals (even though I don’t always accomplish them), I still wanted to get these written out!

Where in the world is our summer going?  June seemed to go by quickly and now I feel like summer is disappearing way to quickly!!  I feel like I wasn’t as productive this month, mostly because we were out of town for 2 weeks out of the month and The Teacher was out of town for the first half of the month.  Before we move on to July, here’s a quick recap of June.

1. Have a date night with The Teacher

We made a point to have a date night while we were at the beach on vacation.  With built-in childcare staying in the same house with us, it was a no brainer.  We kept it simple with a meal, window shopping, and then a drive on the 4WD beach.  It was a lot of fun!

July Goals

2. Schedule a physical for myself & appointment for Savannah

Still hasn’t happened.  🙁

3. Continue tidying – finish up clothes and then move to books

I think I’m finished with all of my clothes and shoes.  I may run through my drawers and one final time to make sure though.  I am hoping to get The Teacher on board in the next week or so and then move on to books.  I guess this is half-finished, so I don’t feel too bad. 🙂

July Goals

4. Finish decorating upstairs bathroom & organizing linen closet

This one is half-finished as well.  I’ve finished setting up the linen closet, but still haven’t found the last couple of accessories that I want to finish up the decor.  Since returning home from vacation, I’ve been able to get out in the stores more and see what is out there.  I’m going to mark this off because I’m only lacking 1 thing.  🙂

5. Sell baby/household items

I don’t even know why I included this one since I wasn’t in town much.  Most everything that I’ve discarded while going through the tidying process has been donated, so there really isn’t a ton to sell anyway.

6. Start brainstorming ideas for Savannah’s new room
We picked out her new bedding and have some images from Pinterest as our inspiration, so I think we are almost ready to begin!

Here is my plan for July goals.

1. Have a date night with The Teacher

We have some family coming to town in a few days, so we may try to squeeze this in when we have more free childcare!

2. Schedule a physical for myself & appointment for Savannah

Needs to happen – still!

3. Continue tidying – tidy The Teacher’s clothes (with him) and then start on books

This will probably be on my list for a few months as we work through the difference categories.

4. Start working on Savannah’s new room

I’m really looking forward to this one.  It may take me into August to get it totally finished, but I’m hoping to make some good progress this month!  I think it’ll be really cute.

5.  Start gathering school supplies for the fall

I still can’t believe Savannah will be starting school in a couple more months.  I want to start gathering supplies now so I’m not panicked in another month.

6.  Come up with an official blog hours schedule for the fall.

I’ve struggled with setting up official blog hours, but it’s been going better since The Teacher is home this summer.  We’ve been doing well balancing my need to have blog hours with his need to have study hours for grad school.  I’d like to talk with him and think through a good schedule for the fall when he is back to teaching so that my time for blogging doesn’t get pushed aside.

There you have it. I’ll report back and let you know how I do.

I'm actually cleaning/dusting the ceiling fan in our guest room. I saw this tip years ago and I've been doing it ever since, although probably not as often as I should! 🤪

Snag an old pillowcase and drag it off each blade so the dust stays inside of it. Then, wash it in your next laundry load for easy clean up!

Is there anything wrong with a large and expensive kitchen? Nope!

Can they be helpful? Absolutely!

This house was built in the 1940s and likely housed a family our size, or maybe larger. It's amazing to think how our concept of wants and needs have changed since then.

Maybe someday we'll have a larger kitchen, but for now, I'm thankful that this small kitchen allows me to have everything at my fingertips quickly! 😁
"The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness "The answer to the purposelessness and hollowness we feel is found not in us but outside of us. The solutions to our problems and pain aren't found in self-love, but in God's love.

The God who created us, who created the universe, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever, is the one who provides us with the purpose and satisfaction we're seeking. While self love depletes, God's love for us doesn't. He showed us his love by sending Jesus to die for our sins so that we could be forgiven and live forever with him. Self-love is superficial and temporary. God's love is profound and eternal."

"The first myth that you are enough. My counter was this: you're not you'll never be enough, and that's okay, because God is."
