Y’all, this past week has been nothing short of overwhelming. Most importantly, I hope and pray that you are safe. My prayer is that this coronavirus pandemic will end soon and that we can shorten the curve!

Like you, my routine has been greatly altered. My husband and kids are all home and we are slowly trying to figure out this “new normal,” which now includes social distancing. I had never heard that term until a few days ago, but here we are.

I feel pretty helpless right now, but I did jot down a list of things to do when you are stuck at home in case you needed a little inspiration or some fresh ideas!

30 Things to Do When You are Stuck at Home

1. Read a book

Here are some of my favorite fiction reads: To Kill a Mockingbird, Redeeming Love, A Man Called Ove

Here are some of my favorite non-fiction books: The Total Money Makeover, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, Boundaries

2. Work on a craft project

Maybe you can finally finish up that craft project you’ve been delaying!

3. Organize a space in your home

Y’all know I love Marie Kondo, so you could always start from the beginning with clothes. If that’s too much, then just pick a space (or even a drawer) and go for it!

4. Play a game

Our kids love playing games. Here are some of their favorites: Stratego, Zingo!, and Guess Who?

5. Work on a puzzle

My husband and kids have been going crazy with puzzles. They love working together on them!

6. Declutter an area of your home

Don’t just re-arrange the items you have. Purge and remove those items from your house, even if it’s only to your trunk to be dropped off later! Check out this post about the KonMari method if you aren’t sure how to get started.

7. Paint something

Whether it’s an entire room or just some touch ups, there’s likely something that needs fresh paint.

8. Organize your photos (digital and/or hard copies)

I’ve been putting this one off for a while now!

9. Mulch or weed your flower beds

This needs to be done anyway, might as well do it now!

10. Plant some flowers

New flowers always put me in a better mood.

11. Make something sweet

Here are some recipes we like: Peanut Butter Cookies, Cornflake Candy, No Bake Cookies

12. Watch an old movie

I just watched Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Green Gables – The Sequel recently. So good!

13. Try a new recipe

You may even try to use up some of the ingredients you already have at home. Get creative!

14. Play an outdoor game

We invest in a badminton set to play out in the yard.

15. Make s’mores / sit around a fire pit

You can make s’mores with or without a firepit and they are yummy either way!

16. Write a letter

Who doesn’t love getting some snail mail?

17. Start a new habit

There are tons of habits out there, but morning routines and evening routines might be even more helpful with being at home right now.

18. Do an indoor workout (app or DVD)

Check out some apps or dust of your old DVDs to get moving. Taking a walk outside works too!

19. Paint your nails

I think we all need to remember to take care of ourselves!

20. Order some new clothes online for the season

I recently purchased the Spring 2020 Outfit Formula, so I’ve been doing some online shopping at home for some spring pieces.

If you want to know more about how you can start to build a capsule wardrobe, then check out this video for more information. I’ve purchased 4 seasonal capsule wardrobes now and I love them!

21. Call/text a friend you haven’t heard from in a while

22. Work on a small home improvement project

Don’t we all have some little projects we’ve been stalling on at home? Let’s get them done so we don’t have to worry about them once we can get out again!

23. Start your spring cleaning

If your kids are home, involve your kids!! Check out this post to help get started.

24. Catch up on laundry

Need I say more? 😉 I aim to do 1 load each day, but we all get behind at times!

25. Rearrange your furniture

This can be a fun way to spruce up a space without spending a dime.

26. Listen to a podcast

Here are some of my favorites: The Dave Ramsey Show, The Rachel Cruze Show, and Young House Love Has a Podcast

27. Work on your budget

If your income is affected by this coronavirus pandemic, then I know this is a scary time. This is a GREAT time to get started. We love using the EveryDollar app!

28. Start a garden

I don’t have much of a green thumb, but this might help you get started!

29. Video chat with some friends

We don’t have any Apple devices, so we’ve had to use Zoom. Whatever platform you use, take advantage of video chats!

30. Learn a skill via YouTube

YouTube has all sort of tutorials out there if you want to learn something new while at home!

I know it’s hard to be stuck at home right now, but hopefully we’ll all be back to our normal lives and routines sooner rather than later.
