School is Out & Father’s Day 2013

June 18, 2013 by Sarah

Is it just me or does it feel like summer is flying by so far!  Someone please make it stop!!

The kids and I got back to Richmond just in time to prepare for some fun visitors from Mississippi.  As Savannah said goodbye to her Mimi and BaBa, we explained to her that she would get to see her Maw Maw and Paw Paw from Mississippi!

They arrived on Saturday evening, after a long 13 hour drive!  Making that drive is not easy, but we were so excited to have them come visit for the week!  We haven’t seen them since Christmas, so it had been a while.  I feel like Savannah has grown so much since then!

We had a nice Father’s Day on Sunday.  We didn’t do anything fancy but just did what we do best – enjoyed each other’s company.  I hated that I couldn’t see my own father, but we had some good time while I was up in Baltimore so I think he understood.  My grandmother invited us over for a nice dinner and we got to enjoy all being together.  I love that mine and Kev’s family all get along so well!  It’s a tremendous blessing!  I’m so thankful for all the fathers in my life!

So far this week, we’ve mostly stayed around the house while the guys have worked on some mini-projects.  I think Kev has enjoyed the week off from school and the help from his dad.  I hate that they always end up working so much when they come to town, but the guys go at their own pace and are able to have some guy time.

I have loved having Loretta here to help out with the kids!  She is up and helping take care of them right when they wake up.  It’s been a tremendous help to me.  You wouldn’t think that getting to run 3 errands during the day by yourself would be so much fun, but it is because it doesn’t happen that often!  (Normally, I will only go to 1 or 2 places with the kids so when I have a lot of stops, I wait until Kev is home at night!)

We are hoping to take them somewhere fun later in the week before the head home.  Washington, DC?  Monticello?  Or maybe just somewhere local?  We shall see.  Luckily, Kev’s parents are so laid back and easy to please that we never feel like we have to entertain them.  We are enjoying their visit so much already!
