Our Water Baby

August 5, 2011 by Sarah

So far, Savannah loves the water!  She really enjoys bath time and just recently was introduced to pools!  We started off slowly though.

Kevin and I decided to purchase a kiddie pool a few weeks ago.  It’s been so hot this summer and I was just dying to see her wear one of her cute swimsuits!  As soon as we got home from purchasing it at Walmart, we immediately filled it up so she could hop in.

She really enjoyed it!  She doesn’t mind getting splashed or getting water in her face, which is so nice!  She enjoyed me squirting her some with the hose when we were filling it up!

Just this past weekend, we took Savannah to a public pool.  We were in Baltimore visiting my family for the weekend so went with my sister to their pool.  I loaded her up with sunscreen and I took her all around the pool with me.

Then Kevin had his turn.  He even took her to the deep end!

She kicked her legs and almost looked like she was doing her own version of the doggy paddle.  She was in no hurry to get out, except I needed to feed her lunch.

I’m so glad that Savannah seems to enjoy the water.  It makes it nice for bath time, but I’m also hoping it will help when it comes time for swim lessons.  And since her daddy was a pretty good swimmer, I’m hoping she got his swimming genes.  Time will tell!
We are hoping to make it to the beach at some point before summer is over.  I can’t wait to see our girl swim in the ocean!  Knowing that so many people in Africa are suffering through famines due to droughts, we are especially grateful to be blessed with water.

John 7:38 – NIV
Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.

Sarah…Savannah is so cute in her little swimsuit. She looks pretty mellow in the pool pictures…like she is relaxed and enjoying it. That is neat that she isn't afraid.

I always loved swimming when I was a kid. And when it is so hot it is such a great way to cool off.

Hope you get your trip to the ocean before summer is over.

I lived by the beach growing up…and now that I have been in Kansas for over 30 years I really miss it. I love to vacation by the ocean whenever possible.
