Change of Plans

June 14, 2013 by Sarah

In Bible study, one of the things we’ve been talking about is how we must wait on the Lord to speak to us.  We seek Him and ask Him to speak to us, but more often than not, we just proceed ahead with our own plans rather than actually being still and waiting on His timing.  And while I’m certainly not saying we should just sit on the couch all day waiting for God to reveal every single detail of our future, there really aren’t that many decisions that would require so much urgency and immediate action.  Sometimes, we just need to slow down and wait.  And be flexible.
With all that being said, we received a call at the end of last week about rescheduling Brady’s cleft palate repair surgery.  My initial gut instinct was to be annoyed, but when you have been praying for God to get all the glory in this process and you also hear that a very sick baby needs to be operated on sooner than your own thriving baby, God has a way of reminding you quickly that He has a plan and His perfect timing for all this.  It’s also given me the privilege to pray for this little sick baby as well – what an honor!

So, we now have a new surgery date to share with you:  Wednesday, June 26th!!
They were able to move it to exactly 1 week later, which isn’t bad at all.  If all goes well, he will be healing well and on his way by the time we head to vacation in August.  Please keep praying though because we know that things may change and we want to be flexible, but also confident that Brady goes into surgery as healthy as possible.  (No illness is allowed in this house!!)
Even though we rescheduled the surgery, we still met with the surgeon today for the pre-op appointment.  We signed off on the surgery and heard some more of what we can expect on surgery day as well as when he comes home.  Let’s just say that our smiley, happy, laughing little Brady-Boo will probably not be so happy for at least 5 days after surgery.  He’ll need lots of cuddles and snuggles!  I’m thankful that my mom will be able to be with us to help care for Savannah so that I can focus on comforting Brady as much as he needs.

My original list of some prayer requests is HERE if you’d like to join us in praying!  God hears!
